Re: E36 lights. How to do?

There is a how-to thread on here somewhere, I am pretty sure. My GTU's were a little easier, since I chopped-off the outer lens and didn't have to match it up to the body of the car -I didn't like the nerdy 'wearing glasses' look halo E-36s give the car, but that is just personal preference. Slight ...

Re: what did you do to your ride today?

Washed the GTU and the Yellow Indy. So of course, the sun went away and it rained. Got the GTU back out on the road a bit -she has been sitting for a few months again, and unfortunately the transmission noise that I had parked her for a couple of years back has returned -I am wondering if it ...

Re: Any easy, cheaper ways to increase MPG?

If your gas mileage is the best it can be, shop for cheaper gas. In case you all don't know, Sam's club has lower prices on gas for members. Usually about 25-30 cents a gallon cheaper around me. So does Costco. Also, if you have a Woodman's grocery store in your area, they sell gas cheaper than mos...

Re: Any easy, cheaper ways to increase MPG?

I get where you are coming from on that, I don't drive as much as I used to either. Cost of gas is what it is -I shop around for better prices, I drive (mostly) respectfully, and I don't drive my '73 Plymouth often (which somehow gets 5 MPG worse than my 'old' Plymouth with the big block :search: -i...

Re: what did you do to your ride today?

No pics of this one here -ever. It was damaged really badly in the same arson fire that toasted the back of my 'old' Z-26 and claimed my second 300ZX and Kawasaki ZX-11 (bad day to be a car with a 'Z'). It is painful enough for me without having to hear the 'what a POS, why bother keeping that?' fro...

Re: Any easy, cheaper ways to increase MPG?

Valvoline is IMO as good as it gets... I've also grown fond of Castrol, both are top-notch products. Only problem I ever had with Valvoline Synthetic was on my '97 Z-24 Turbo -the oil-return into the pan from the turbo was sealed-up with Fel-Pro RTV silicon, as I trusted the name and didn't know the...

Re: Any easy, cheaper ways to increase MPG?

ifixalot , good info there. What is the source, that seems to be a Pennzoil concern, regarding the high percentage of paraffin wax, as that was always the problem with that brand. Works great initially, clumps and sludges badly with age and carbon deposition and loses its' ability to lubricate -I'v...

Re: Running E-85?

Walbro ran the bucket dry, as I recall, so Jon tried cutting holes in his I think. Older Berettas don't have the bucket at all though, and I've been running a stock Delco (or I think it is a Delphi actually) H.O. Northstar 4.6L pump on my '90 Turbo 'Retta for a few years -and built my own bucket fro...

Re: Any easy, cheaper ways to increase MPG?

When I sold my 180+k-mile '92 G/A to a friend of mine many years back, he switched to Valvoline Maxlife -this was before it was a semi-synthetic- and all he got for it was a smoking car. Switched back to conventional, and no problems. I ran Duarblend semi-synthetic in my old Honda 750 -a high-perfor...

Re: what did you do to your ride today?

Drove the 'old' Z-26 a bit last couple of days. She was running a little warm when I got home this morning, had to add a GALLON of coolant. No trace in the oil though, but the system seemed properly pressurized so I am not sure where it went. :Search: I don't really care if it is a head gasket final...

Re: Any easy, cheaper ways to increase MPG?

Hmmm, K&N filter on a MAF-operated car can cause issues. Never experienced them myself, but heard more than once that the oil from the filter tends to atomize off and can bugger-up the MAF's hot-wire, giving a poor reading to the ECM. Definitely recommend starting with that MAF cleaning... Also ...

Re: Any easy, cheaper ways to increase MPG?

15? That is TERRIBLE! My '95 (old one) gets mid-to-high 30's highway, city only I see around 22, with mid twenties mixed. I know you've done your tune-up work, and keep up on the maintenance. But just to double check, air and fuel filters, good plugs and wires , new PCV valve, run a fuel injector cl...

Wow, those tails look NICE. Did you get them in that condition, or did you refinish them somehow? I am assuming the rabbit wasn't a VW Rabbit... :D

Re: Z71 project 2.0 - 92 from Cali

That is nice. If I were to get another GM truck, that is the era I prefer too. I could stomach getting an LS-based rig, but not with an auto, for sure. I tend honestly to prefer the pre-Vortec TBI trucks, for that matter. Looking forward to seeing the Multi-Port setup you are doing, lots and lots of...

Sorry, but what is the point of this post, "nhah nhah nhah nhah nhah nhaaah", or what? Not trying to turn this into a bstuff revival, but it just isn't nice or helpful...
