Re: Just bought a 95 Beretta with 3100 engine
Is 3400 better than 3100? I heard 3400 has blown head gasket risk.Asylum wrote:Just put a 3400 in the damn thing and enjoy the car.
They are readily available ( car-parts com). Just punch in your info.
The whole swap info is available and then you will have a neat car!!

I have a 95 base with 3100 and auto 4 speed. How much would the labor cost for swap the engine to a 3400? It that true that it can be done with 4 hours?

Re: Just bought a 95 Beretta with 3100 engine
How hard is it? and how many hours do I need? I'm not a mechanic but did some DIY projects like timing belt replacement, cruise control installation etc.

if swap engine, what engine is easier to do for this car(1995 Beretta 1SM)?Money pit Beretta wrote:Lower intake manifold gasket is bad. Just a guess(lol).
Really it's a common thing. Check the sides of the heads and behind the thermostat(there is a low spot there where the oil pump drive is).

Re: Just bought a 95 Beretta with 3100 engine
Don't even think of a tow bar on that car!!! JUST DON'T! Trailer or at least a dolly tow truck! Not sure about the timing chain issue. Likely a good idea but at 200K a motor swap is probably a better idea. If you bought it for a great body and the price was right, great! If you bought it otherwise ...

Re: Just bought a 95 Beretta with 3100 engine
Red paint on the throttle cable? Just so you know that thing is way over due for a timing chain. No mounting a tow bar will not be easy. Most use a trailer. What do you mean red paint on the throttle cable? Does the timing chain need to be replaced? I have not paid it yet but I would loss $100 depo...

Yeah both the body and price are good.Asylum wrote:Then why did you buy it, unless you plan on doing a swap and the body is in remarkable condition.
Now I need to bring it back home from the auction site. Is it easy to mound a tow bar on the front?
