Re: The Derretta, 1994 base with some attitude.

Trans is together finally together, now I'm enjoying the fun process of identifying all of my harnesses that I didn't label so I can modify the harness for the swap. I did get my OEM Exedy clutch installed today too! Quick photo of the car in its current state too... 🤣 https://i.postimg.cc/4xnjJj7K/...

Re: The Derretta, 1994 base with some attitude.

Just got some Loctite anaerobic sealant, fixed the broken lip where the detent cover goes with some JB steel weld, and started cleaning up the mounting surfaces today! I also got my new speed sensor and connector from Rockauto, along with finding the new axles for the 5 speed swap on closeout for $3...

Re: The Derretta, 1994 base with some attitude.

Thanks man! It's easy enough for me to find!
woody90gtz wrote: Mon Nov 18, 2024 9:41 pm You actually want anaerobic sealer, not RTV. It's a clear-red sealant...also available from permatex. I don't know why RTV is a no-no, but I've gotten that from reliable sources. Anaerobic sealer is spec right in the GM manual.

Re: The Derretta, 1994 base with some attitude.

Took my junkyard 282 apart, special thanks to Eric for telling me how to separate the case! Also a big thanks to Rex for the manual for the transmission! https://www.mediafire.com/?y2tntusxywg&dkey=ghg3n0xd519&r=312&fbclid=IwY2xjawGl4qdleHRuA2FlbQIxMQABHV9aUf3BKVquiiVFusRprmAGdl9ulsY14K7...

Re: The Derretta, 1994 base with some attitude.

Wow, has it really been almost a year since I've posted an update?! Progress is a minimum this year. Our truck went down, spent a decent amount redoing a lot on the engine. Trailblazer went down a couple times. Cavalier went down, which is now gone, after fixing it. Rebuilt the full steering and sus...

Re: 5 speed swap

I thought I responded, I guess I never did... Oops haha.

This information is fantastic, and is helping quite a bit. I'm slowly piecing the parts together between all the projects I have at the moment!

Re: The Derretta, 1994 base with some attitude.

Small update; Fixed a coolant leak on the coolant pipe going into the thermostat housing and de-rusted the bracket on the body for the factory auto trans mount. Not doing much else until my trans comes in, they were have shipping issues due to the weather up North. No biggie though, the car will pro...

I'll have to do that, I'm not quite ready to do the swap yet, but I am in the process of getting parts ordered, just not 100% on what all I will need!

5 speed swap

I swear there was a write up on this, but I went through multiple pages of information on here, and could not find one. Am I blind, or do we not have one?

Re: The Derretta, 1994 base with some attitude.

Found the oil pan gasket is leaking, but at least it'll be easy with subframes out and the trans out. I love having a commercial account, only $20 for a Victor Reinz gasket...

Re: The Derretta, 1994 base with some attitude.

Quick yearly update! 🤣🤣 Spent this year refinishing the rest of the exhaust with another new setup, added a high flow cat and replaced the old eBay muffler with a Flowtech Terminator, I'm not fully sold on if I like the muffler or not since it broke in, but whatever. I also finally did new front whe...

Re: The Derretta, 1994 base with some attitude.

Man am I behind on updates. Nothing new visually, but fought a bad fuel pump all spring, then fought a bad crank sensor over the summer. Making my list of winter projects for the car already... - exhaust leaks (still) - front wheel bearing - properly machine rear spindles (they're off a little bit a...
