Even the Undercarriage Looks Good on This 1991 Beretta
Couldn't have seen much snow or salt if any to be in this condition.

Beretta Convertible Street Legal?
The March 2020 Car of the Month post titled "Nicholas Jensen’s Beretta Hat Trick" is an overview of Mr Jensen's three Berettas, one of which is a convertible. He is quoted as saying he is getting it ready for the road. Can it be licensed for use on public roads? I thought the convertibles ...

12 Year Old Valve Job Still Good?
I took apart the top end of a 1990 Beretta GT 3.1L engine 12 years ago and had a basic valve job done on the heads. I never reassembled the engine, the car had severe undercarriage rust, so I sent the car to the recycling yard minus the top end of the engine. The heads have sat in my unheated garage...

Re: A Couple of Corrosion Questions
Wow, you are very thorough in your underbody maintenance. My 1990 Beretta looked excellent on the topside, but the underneath it was a lot of rot in the places you described. I had the rubberized undercoating applied with the car was new. It was my daily driver, and living in the upper Midwest USA, ...

Re: A Couple of Corrosion Questions
You have had good luck if your undercoating has remained pliable. If you keep your car out of corrosive conditions, why do the rubberized undercoating? Was it a daily driver at one point before it was restricted to being operated only in dry, clean road conditions?

Re: If You Parted Out a Car, Was It Worth It?
I am in the process of liquidating equipment from my parents' defunct business, so I have some of their gear in my garage. I reached a point where I had to do something to get some garage space, and sending the car to the recycling yard was the fastest way to do that. Overall the interior on my car ...

Re: If You Parted Out a Car, Was It Worth It?
Thanks for offering your perspective. I thought about it, and decided that I wanted the space in the garage now vs after parting out the car.

If You Parted Out a Car, Was It Worth It?
The recycling yard will haul my 1990 Beretta away, and pay me $130. Besides the $130 payment, I instantly get a big chunk of my garage back (the car has been parked for 12 years). The Beretta looks good from the door sills up, but the rockers and undercarriage have severe rust. If the underside was ...

Re: A Couple of Corrosion Questions
I always went to the self-service car wash and rinsed the undercarriage throughout the winter. The car was parked in the winter. My mistakes were not rinsing the undercarriage at home, then parking it, and also letting the car sit unused for 12 years. I originally planned to only have the car off th...

Re: A Couple of Corrosion Questions
I took close look at the undercarriage. The corrosion has gotten too much of a head start for me to correct. At first glance, the rust does not look too severe, but when probed with a screwdriver, the rust gives way to some serious holes. Below are a couple of photos of the rear spring area. The rus...

Re: A Couple of Corrosion Questions
Thanks for the info. When I get up to 5 posts, I will post links to photos of my car's undercarriage, just to get some other points of view on the amount of corrosion. If I think the rust is going to be too much of a problem, I might just part ways with the car. I like the car, except for the seat/s...

1990 Beretta New Owner Cassette Tape
Chevrolet provided an audio cassette tape with my 1990 Beretta. It is filled with 15 minutes of Beretta facts and features presented by two enthusiastic announcers. I found the tape recently, and ripped it to MP3 and put it here, in case anyone has time to kill and wants to study up on Beretta facts.

A Couple of Corrosion Questions
Does anyone have any real world long-term experience with rubberized undercoating on a vehicle? I read that it hardens with age, cracks, and allows moisture, and in my region, road salt, to come in contact with the undercarriage. Once the intrusion has occurred, the moisture migrates under the surro...
