Re: Speed Gov. Question
i'm curious as well, though i have much faster/less invasive/permanant ways of going about it should i desire to.

Re: Speed Gov. Question
never, ever pass your tire's speed rating. losing a tire at 120MPH is going to ruin more than one person's day. if you happen to be in a location where you can legally run up to or past your limiter, its your life(and presumably no one else's) in the balance. anywhere other than that, you'll deserve...

Re: Speed Gov. Question
so...... what are the speed ratings on your tires? because that is generally where GM set the limiters at in a factory calibration.

Re: Rich smelly and farty - part 2 saga continues
43 is the knock sensor. with it set, the PCM removes a set amount of timing in all conditions, which will cause drivability issues, including a crap idle. it could even be the cause of your DTC45.
since you have a tech1, this will certainly be helpful.

Re: Speed Gov. Question
depends on what is meant by bypass.... you could build some semi-elaborate hardware to simulate the speed sensor's signal and selectively feed that to the PCM when above a certain speed, making the PCM think you're sitting at 100MPH when you pass that threshold.... not the greatest idea, but i can v...

Re: Oil Question...
But I have to admit I start having heart palpitations once the Quad gets past 3000 miles even on Mobile One. could always have an oil analysis done.... they're cheap enough these days. i want to say less than $20/shipped for most services? I was trying to say that 0W30 would not have the same prote...

Re: Oil Question...
Okay, but there is still an issue with higher bearing loads under heavy acceleration when the engine is still cold -most people don't bother warming-up their engines anymore before taking off and driving their cars. Thinner oils do not provide as much protection in this case. so, you think a 0W-30 ...

Re: Oil Question...
at full operating temp, a 0W, 5W and 10W oil for a given grade(30, 40, 50) are all more or less the same viscosity. the differences between them is when they're under that temp(212*F), the lower the W number, the better it flows. http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/motor-oil-101/ there's a good start. a 1...

Re: Oil Question...
why would you run 10W anything if a 5W or 0W alternative exists?

sounds an awful lot like the LS7 then..... not that there's anything wrong with that.

that's because WinALDL is only intended for 160 baud units.... tunerpro will do either.PotatoSalad wrote: I was a bit confused about the USB ALDL link cables saying they're compatible with all 160 or 8192 baud PCMS, but a cursory survey of WinALDL indicates it's only intended for 160 baud systems.

92-93 airbag = A125
93-94 airbag = A242
i've built the A125 definition before, but i never bothered with A242 apparently, it's not in my archive.

you could run someone else's calibration.... not that i would recommend it. everybody has their own preferences as to what they like.

Re: Oil Question...
5W-30.... there is no place for 10W-30 in todays world. at operating temp, there is no difference in viscosity(hence the -30 rating). this is somewhat incorrect, since there is a range of vsicosity allowed to be certified as a -30, but for purposes of comparison, they're the same. at anything less t...
