My blackened windshield trim is delaminating.
How does the trim come off and can it be recoated?
Does anyone have experience with epoxy based paints and will they adhere to the stainless steel?
BTW, mine is a 90 Indy.

Mine is doing the same. At this point, I think most are. I have thought about peeling it all off and just hitting it with black paint. I can't think of a reason the stainless would cause trouble as long as it was clean and abraded properly.

What I don't know is how the corner seams look once the plastic extrusion is taken off. It may look fine, or it may look worse than the delaminating trim...

I have painted them with undercoating... puts some texture on it, and is matte finish. Another option is wrinkle paint. I wonder how FLEX SEAL would do!

There's a few 7mm screws that hold the trim in that are hidden behind the door seal. It pulls right off after you remove them. I didn't grab a great photo at the time, unfortunately, but this is what I have:
I cleaned mine up (tried to make the surface even since half the rubberized coating was missing), sprayed over them with a primer and then hit them with SEM Trim Black:
I later got a second set that were in much better shape apart from looking a bit tired, and gave them the same treatment. They turned out a bit nicer:
