Help, 1990 Beretta won't start?!

Post by glimr2 »

I have a 1990 Beretta 3.1 that will not start!!!

It turns over and fires but does not start!  I have replaced the  ECM, the fuel pump comes on, I've replaced the plugs.  Fuel shoots out of the shrader valve that connects to the fuel rail. ÂÂÂ

I need any advice you have to help me get this car running!

My guess is the ignition control module. Check the fuse #1 and #9 just in case. Then we can go on from there if that's not it.

Where is the ignition control module located?

And, thanks by the way for your response!

ignition modual is underneath the front exhaust manifold, where all the coils are mounted.
if fuel is shooting out of your schrader valve, remove it and make sure that there is nothing clogging it up or holding it open. if you have fuel shooting out of there your probably having a lean burn, not enough fuel to start the engine. it'll pop, but will not be enough. I'm not sure if it's the same, but that shrader valve looks exactly like one in a tire.

The fuel only squirts from the shrader valve when I push it!  Not all the time.  The engine runs with starting fluid.

It could be a bad (shorted) injector as well.  Measure resistance across the terminals, It should be roughly 12Ω

I see lol, well, if the engine runs with starting fluid that rules out ignition and compression, the only thing left is fuel, check your fuel pressure, andthe connector to the injectors.

Possibly CPS ,but sounds like a fuel consistency problem to me. Check your ohm resistance on your injectors and for frayed wires. GL.
