12 Year Old Valve Job Still Good?

Post by 90blkgt »

I took apart the top end of a 1990 Beretta GT 3.1L engine 12 years ago and had a basic valve job done on the heads. I never reassembled the engine, the car had severe undercarriage rust, so I sent the car to the recycling yard minus the top end of the engine. The heads have sat in my unheated garage (upper Midwest USA) for the 12 years. Would they still useable after 12 years of storage, or would they need another trip to the machine shop? Just wondering, because I no longer need them, and will either sell or scrap them.

Unless the garage has a lot of moisture in it, I'd say if they still look good, they would be OK.
I pulled a running engine from a car I scraped. It sat in my unheated garage for years, probably
about 7-8 years. I put it in another car and it runs fine to this day.
