Bots can use that search function and reducing that time would just increase load on the server. Most forums I'm on there is a search wait time as well so we aren't the only ones who do it.
What if search delay was removed for those who have a user account logged in and verified Via email?

I've been stuck with having to wait, and even having the page put me on a temporary restriction before because I was using it to much or to fast.

Maybe some kind of anti-bot detection like typing the word you see in the picture?

I admit, it is frustrating when it keeps telling you to wait.

EDIT: Didn't see the 5 second delay for users post, I missed it.

Currently I can not change anything... Wait till after the forum is migrated to the new host and then hopefully we will have more control over it, but in the end that option you are requesting may not be available... We are not using self programmed forum, its a boxed sold setup so if what you want it to do is not an option you are SOL.

the forum is 100% customizable, the limiting factor has always been time. As far as adding a captcha, on a 5 second delay the wait time would be up by the time most people typed it <.<
