Yeah, I tend to not post up unless I have something finished. The swap took a couple weeks of gathering parts from random stores and one very lucky trip to the yard. Then we spent a few nights throwing everything together and a couple more getting a rough tune set. It has some trouble at idle and I still have to throw in the LT1 fuel pump but it's fun for now. If work ever lets me have some time off I'll get the pump in and go to the tuning shop a few towns away and spend some time on the dyno to get it dialed in.

That LT1 pump sounds like overkill. Your are making me dream of a swap.

Thanks Mark!

The LT1 pump is a $32 drop in pump. This swap was done on the cheap! Free trans from my 88 that I'll need to find a replacement for at a later date, $250 engine, $150 for the crank trigger setup, $55 for the TB adapter, $32 at Mcmaster for the poly to fill the mounts, $30 to Moates.net for the adapter, and $120 for damn near everything else from the yard. I spent extra cash getting the injectors cleaned and powdercoating some stuff that wasn't really necessary but I did it anyway. Having a buddy that had done the swap before was what made it happen so easily. He already had the basic tune and also the schematics to make the front mount bracket. The most expensive part was the damn exhaust, that set me back $900. There's obviously small stuff I'm forgetting but I cant think of them right now.

Got the Wilwood kit in today! Mother nature turned on me tho halfway thru so I didn't get to test them out thoroughly. Hopefully tomorrow will be nicer to me. My buddy who helped me took a lot of pics and I'm hoping he'll post them when he gets home. For now I only have this one:

I don't have any silver vinyl for the GTU part...I'm actually thinking about buying a roll though. There's a few things I could use it for.

Wow, very nice! :good: Quick, there is a red GTU on ebay right now, clean low mile car, too, 86k miles. Horrible pictures, but $2800, hard to go wrong.

So, you don't need the old rims anymore, right? I'm still looking for a set to replace the ones stolen from my white '89 GTU.

Very clean swap too, I like that crank-trigger setup too. What ECM are you using to run the engine, the original 2.8 computer?

Glad to see the upgrade on the exhaust, that crinkle-bend crap was giving me the shakes! :bad:

And I like that brake setup, I'll bet it doesn't fit behind a 16" wheel though, does it? :sorry:

Thanks! Crank trigger is from britishcarconversions.com, Stock ecm with a burned memcal from Scott0999. I do actually have 2 spare sets of GTU rims, and lastly the kit does fit under 16" rims. Not the GTU rims tho, they have an inner lip that smacks the caliper. The kit is expensive but it's worth every damn penny! The lines wilwood has listed for the cavalier/sunfire work perfectly as well. They may look funny in the pic but the lines actually dont interfere with the wheel or anything else. These brakes are PHENOMENAL!!!
