BerettaFest 2023 Proposal - Billings, MT

Post by elena_MT95 »

It’s that time of year again! BerettaFest has landed close to Montana in the past but has never quite crossed the border into the Treasure State! Billings is Montana’s largest town and is affectionately nicknamed Montana’s Trailhead and for good reason! Billings is just a short drive away from some of the most spectacular places on Earth, a few of which we’ll get to explore during our weekend together. Plan to come a few days early or stay a few days after to get to explore Yellowstone National Park or Glacier National Park, both just a few hours from Billings.

BerettaFest Billings Proposed Itinerary:
Wednesday:
3-6 pm: Early hotel registration for any early birds!
6-8 pm: Taco night!
Everyone gets into town and gets their taco on in the Bfest tradition!

Thursday:
10-3 pm: Hotel registration and check in
Hotel & Rates TBD. Estimating $100-$140/night. Get a roommate! We will work to secure the best group rate to save costs while securing the best amenities. Billings also offers some beautiful campsites through KOA and Good Sam.
4-9pm: Red Lodge
Red Lodge is a scenic mountain town about 60 miles southwest of Billings, at the gateway to the Absorka-Beartooth wilderness. We’ll eat dinner at Red Lodge Pizza Co, or another fabulous local restaurant, then have time to explore the historic downtown area. Don’t miss the candy shop!

Friday:
10-Noon: ZooMontana. ZooMontana is a 70-acre wildlife park in Billings and is Montana’s only zoo and botanical park. Home to local favorites Winston the Sloth, Sofi and Jasmine the Amir tigers, Bert and Jay the bison, and Bruno and Ozzy the grizzley bears! Then catch lunch at one of the many fine eateries on the west end of Billings.
3-6: Zimmerman Park. A local favorite park right on top the Billings Rimrocks, Zimmerman Park offers great view of the city as well as hiking trails for all skill levels.
Alternatively: one of Billings’ many great local museums: the Yellowstone Art Museum, Western Heritage Center, or the Moss Mansion, just to name a few!
6-8: Dinner at Burger Dive! This famous eatery is home to nationwide awards for their insane burgers. The “I’m your huckleberry” burger is a local favorite and you’ll see why it won the World Food Championships!
Drag Racing? Another option in Billings! Yellowstone Drag Strip is a 30-minute drive out of town and offers weekly test and tune events if they’re not running an event. We’ll investigate this for anyone interested!

Saturday:
9a-3pm: Cruise the Beartooth Highway
Back to Red Lodge where we began the week, we can cruise the scenic Beartooth Highway. Dubbed “the most beautiful roadway in America” by Charles Kuralt, the Beartooth high climes almost 11,000 ft aboe sea level and provides spectacular views of one of the most rugged and wild areas in the continental US!
4-8 pm: Picnic, Car show, & Group Photo
Riverfont Park is located on the banks of the Yellowstone River with serene views, accessible trails, and is only a short walk from Norm’s Island, a local ecological hotspot where you can walk right along the river and may even get to see some local wildlife.
After the car show, a group photo with Riverfront Park’s Lake Josephine in the background!

Sunday
10-noon: Breakfast and goodbyes – but only until next year!
