BerettaFest 2023 Proposal - Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

Let’s go to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma! The “Modern Frontier” is the place for BerettaFest 2023! According to Travel + Leisure, OKC metro is one of the best places to visit and ranked #5 on the “America’s Friendliest Cities” list. Take a little scenic drive and let us welcome you to our home state! Oklahoma is full of history, cowboy and native american culture, art, parks, entertainment, numerous outdoor adventures and unique districts that make it a fantastic place to visit. Besides being famous for its agriculture and western heritage, Oklahoma is also known for college sports, country music, and the iconic Route 66. Oklahoma has some of the most gorgeous scenery in the world from beautiful farmland and prairies to forested hills and mountains to waterfalls and hundreds of lakes.

I guarantee you will be pleasantly surprised at how much there is to see and do in Oklahoma! And so much right here in and around Oklahoma City!

BerettaFest 2023 Oklahoma City, OK Proposed Itinerary:

Wednesday June 21st :

Early hotel check-in and BerettaFest Registration

6pm- Annual BerettaFest Taco Night! Either fix our own tacos at hotel or take a stroll to Fuzzy’s Taco Shop, one of OKC best taco places located right in Bricktown. Fuzzys large patio is a nice place to enjoy an evening in Bricktown or they cater a “build your own taco bar” and could take it back to hotel. ($10-12 per person)

Thursday June 22nd :

9 am – Noon - Check-in/Registration. There are numerous hotels located in Bricktown or within walking distance. There are hotels that have larger parking lots with plenty of space for trailers.

10 am – 2 pm – While the others finish rolling into town start exploring Bricktown, a favorite destination for visitors and locals alike! Grab a bite to eat at one of the many dining options. Here are just a few of the things to check out in Bricktown -

Brickopolis – 3 stories of fun with an arcade, laser tag, putt-putt, climbing wall, bungee trampoline and some good food! http://www.brickopolisu.com

Myriad Botanical Gardens – beautiful 15-acre botanical garden and interactive urban park. One of a kind 13,000 square foot Crystal Bridge Tropical Conservatory. Kids love the unique children's gardens & playground and the Thunder Fountain that replicates a thunderstorm. http://www.myriadgardens.com

Unique shopping in stores with specialty gifts, Oklahoma collectibles, and tasty treats like yummy buffalo jerky! http://www.okjackalope.com And also a Bass Pro store.

OKC brew tours – Fun brewery tours that educate guests about the brewing process and provide sampling of locally made, hand-crafted beer. http://www.okcbrewtour.com

A nice way to get around bricktown and some surrounding areas is on the streetcars. The system runs 7 days week, stopping at 22 platforms about every 15 minutes. Single tickets are $1 and day pass $3 http://www.okcstreetcar.com

2pm - 3pm – Group ride on Bricktown Water Taxis – Fun one hour ride down the beautiful Bricktown canal. The taxi guides are always entertaining while giving fun facts and history about Oklahoma City. Group rate $9.50/person http://www.bricktownwatertaxi.com

4pm - Head to historic Stockyards City, a short 7 minute drive from bricktown. District is well-known for its early 20th century architecture and décor, western themed businesses and famous steaks at Cattleman’s Steakhouse. And home to Oklahoma National Stockyards, the largest feeder/stocker cattle market in the world. http://www.stockyardscity.org

4pm – 7pm – Enjoy all the sights and shopping of the stockyards. Those that wanted could take a guided tour of the stockyards where you get to walk the catwalk, overseeing the entire stockyards, go inside the famous auction barn and learn the history of the stockyards. Maybe do a “Beretta drive” through the stockyards city with some good photo opportunities :)

7pm - Dinner at Cattlemen’s Steakhouse. Opened in 1910, Cattleman’s Steakhouse is legendary, known coast to coast for perfectly aged steaks and old-time hospitality. http://www.cattlemensrestaurant.com



Friday June 23rd:

9am – 2pm – free time to explore on your own or in groups some of the many other things to do around Oklahoma City. Some other attractions include;

Oklahoma City Zoo – 10 minutes north of Bricktown http://www.okczoo.com

National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum – A must see museum of Western history, art and culture. http://www.nationalcowboymuseum.com

Several other museums within 5 – 15 minutes of Bricktown including First American Museum http://www.famok.org, Oklahoma City Museum of Art http://www.okcmoa.com, Museum of Osteology http://www.skeletonmuseum.com and the Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum http://www.memorialmuseum.com

Frontier City – Fun western-themed amusement park with an attached water park, Wild West Water Works. Family-friendly rides for all ages and concerts and live shows straight out of the Wild West. It is operated by Six Flags http://www.sixflags.com

Automobile Alley – Cool little district that has lots to offer. Still has the vintage neon signs on original buildings from the 1920s when it was the location of over 50 car dealerships. http://www.automobilealley.org

Possible group lunch at Toby Keith’s I Love This Bar & Grill (enclosed patio right on the canal) or perhaps meet at Scissortail Park and grab a bite from The Perch or Spark to eat while enjoying the park. A neat park about a 4 minute drive from Bricktown with trails, gardens, and children’s playgrounds. http://www.scissortailpark.org http://www.tobykeithbar.com

2pm- For the adventurous the Riversport Adventure Park at the Boathouse District has the most exciting adventures on the Oklahoma River including the world’s tallest adventure coarse- the 80 ft SandRidge Sky Trail, whitewater rafting, kayaking, extreme Air Launcher and a 700 ft zip line. Also has a youth zone for younger children and playground. https://www.riversportokc.org/ About 10 more minutes down the river is the Wheeler Ferris Wheel, a 100 ft ferris wheeel relocated here from Santa Monica Pier. Single ride $6 or day pass for $10. http://www.wheelerdistrict.com (Also could use some time in the morning before picnic/car show to take advantage of the adventures along the river.)

Alternative to the Adventure Park could be the always fun Pinot’s Palette for a group painting session! Perfect place for some fun together, painting, drinking and having fun at an upscale “paint and sip” studio. We pick the painting- maybe the state animal, the buffalo or there is an option to custom design our painting- maybe our Berettas.... :) . $35/person - 2hr class https://www.pinotspalette.com/

5pm- Head to Thunder Valley Raceway Park 40 minutes south of Bricktown. It offers open racing at all of their Friday Night Fun Grudge events, where all racer are welcome. Gates open at 6 pm, starts at 7 pm. $10 admission, $20 car & driver. It also offers 15 Test N Tune Events. http://www.okthunder.com

If your looking for more of a relaxed evening you can go on a River Cruise down the amazing Oklahoma River. It is 1 hr 30 minutes round trip $20/adult and $15/senior & child. Depending on how many people are interested we could get a private charter and save up to $5 per ticket. http://www.okrivercruises.com

Saturday June 24th:

Am- Free time to relax, get cars ready car show or time to check out some of the shopping, museums, attractions, or riversport adventures you havent had time to do. Could also drive about 30 minutes north to Guthrie, one of the largest historic districts on the National Register. The Guthrie Historic District includes more than 2,000 buildings with amazing architecture. Several blocks of antique stores and unique stores. A few not to miss – Rick’s Fine Chocolates & Coffees http://www.ricksdowntown.com, Pollard’s Gourmet Grocery (the BEST beef jerky) http://www.pollardsgentlemanjerky.com, G Gallery & Glass Studio (gift shop & glassblowing studio) http://www.ggalleryandglass.com, and Yum Yum Junction for delicious ice cream.

2pm-6pm - Car show and picnic at Mineral Wells Park located less than 1 mile south of Guthrie (30 minutes north of Bricktown). Mineral Wells Park is a nice shaded park with covered pavillion, playground for kids, and restrooms. Around the area the park is known for being the place to have car shows. (Guthrie has a large car show every september and this year had over 200 cars there.) Rental is $50 for up to 6 hours.

Catering for picnic could be done by Biggsy’s BBQ Shack. He does a lot of catering in the area and has the best BBQ! $14-16/person (Facebook page – Biggsy’s BBQ shack)

6pm- Enjoy a Cruise on Route 66 with several photo opportunities along the way. Head about 30 minutes up Route 66 to the Landmark Pops diner & gas station with hundreds of sodas (over 500 line the walls ceiling to floor) and a 66 ft tall soda bottle out front. http://www.pops66.com Just a couple minutes up the road is the famous 1898 round barn, the most photographed building on all of route 66! I bet it would look great with berettas in front of it! http://www.arcadiaroundbarn.com Depending on how much time we spend at locations we could travel as far up Route 66 as everyone wants to. There is an old gas station, etc. not too much farther up road. If we make it back by Pops after dark the large soda statue glows neon at night making for a cool picture.

For dinner there is a well-known place, with delicious chicken, right across from the Round Barn called The Chicken Shack. It has a very large outside eating area with several tables. And they often have live entertainment. Open til 11 pm on saturdays. (Facebook pg The Chicken Shack)

Sunday June 25th:

9am-11am - Breakfast at IHOP or somewhere else in Bricktown and say our goodbyes, until we meet again!
