My beretta is turning into a swimming pool..

Post by cold_pyro »

I know this is in the FAQ but I found the instructions for fixing leaks in the FAQ just a bit hard to understand..  All I know is, I have a leak under the windsheild.  I pulled the cover off the bottom of the dashboard the other day and water just poured out of it..  It's been leaking into the carpet for a while, It's just I had a lot of rain last night and it left like an inch of standing water this time..  I have the car covered right now to keep water out..  But the flood season is starting up in Tennessee and I'm going to have to do something soon..  I'm thinking it's coming from one of two places,
1.  There's a leak in the firewall.
2.  The windshield isn't sealed properly..  (The reason I'm guessing this is because around the edge of my windsheild like down at the bottom where the plastic is it looks like someone tried some sort of sealer and it's cracking and falling off..)  Please help, the Z26 isn't meant to be a fishbowl..  (even though it was engineered like one..)  j/p..

It could be a combination of both...  the windshield sounds conspicuous, but the firewall has the repution My bet would be on the windshield though.

Any idea how many bones that'll run me to have the windshield resealed, unless it gets accidentally smashed and insurance pays?

if its in an area thats gonna be Unseen..Use Gutter Silicone.  Its made for Outside use and abuse, and dries clear.  Be sure to strip the stuff someone else put in there and CLEAN it good before Gooping it back up. ;)

I would guess well under $100 for the resealing.

I may pull the plastic cover off the bottom of the windshield and strip the old #### off and try what he says..

It could also be leaking at the blower motor fresh air inlet.  It us under the wiper cowl cover.  You have to take the wiper arms and the black cover off.

Check prices for windsheilds!  They cary a lot around here.  From the problem I had with my Ford, it wasn't much more (~$40) for them to put in a new windsheild.  Plus, there is a lot less chance that it will leak with a new windsheild.  They would have to clean the old windsheild.  That takes time (time==money).  Also, the new windsheild will likely seal better.

BTW I saw pice diffs of over $150 when I checked around.
