Work boots

What kind of work boots do you guys recommend? I've used Caterpillar and this other brand Sorel, both have worn out after 6 months. I need steel toe and something that's good for being on your feet and walking around all day. I'm thinking of dropping $150+ and trying Timberland Pro boots. Any recommendations and input would be greatly appreciated!

When it comes to work wear for the feets, that's all I can rely on for comfort 10+ hours a day or night.

I always had good luck with Rocky Boots. They fit and feel better than most other brands. The first set of 911s I had (they have changed the style dramatically since then though) lasted for several years, and they were as light as tennis-shoes (almost). Since then, they haven't lasted as long, but still comfy, and the prices are great for the quality. I haven't had steel-toe, but they do make those too.

I work for the State with 10 hour shifts as a Groundskeeper doing maintenance landscaping. Red Wings...cost a premium (job pays for them) well worth it.

I did look into Red Wings and they are $250 -$300 for a pair. Pretty expensive but if I keep burning through a pair of $100 every 6 months it would be worth it to just spend the money and get a pair that will last for a few years. There's a RW store near me so I think I'll check it out. Thanks, guys.

If you do wear out the boots that fast, then the warranty they have is going to be your best friend.

I have been wearing outdoor waterproof Wolverine's with reinforced toes. And my brother had some old Sorel's that i am really liking in this cold snow we have been getting. You can get some decent prices on some of their line from Blains Farm and Fleet. Red Wings are considered the best but not everyone preference and their outdoor stuff is made in China anyhow. My dad has used Red Wings in the machine shop and a few other brands. I think they were the first to use the OSHA compliant carbon toes.
Consider Farm & Fleet though. They carry Cat, Timberland and a few other brands. I have had a few of the Wolverines and have been pretty happy with them.

I have been wearing wolverines for about four years and I'm on my feet a lot on cement, they are uncomfortable for the week or two after you buy them just like all boots are but they become very comfortable and are half the price of Red Wings of course if I didn't have to pay for them I would by Red Wings

I might check out Wolverine. I loved my Sorel's and I got a $150 pair of them on clearance for $65. They were steel toe and waterproof, but they came apart after 6 months. Red Wings sound tempting but I don't know if I feel like dropping $300 on a pair right now lol.

Most work places offer vouchers or can get a discounted rate over the general public with RW's. Ask your manager to look into it if you are not aware.

I like my catepiller steel toe boots. Plus my craftsman boots.

I've been wearing a pair of Under Armor Valsetz duty boots at work for a while now. They are very light, breathe exceptionally well (better than any boots I've ever had) and are really comfortable, even all day long. HOWEVER: These are not really work-boots. They have no steel-toe, if you work in an environment where that is required or recommended, and unfortunately they have really crappy traction on wet/oily concrete, which I encounter at work a lot. As far as the speed-lace feature, well, they aren't speedy at all. And after about 6-8 months, the laces are deteriorating already, with the outer casing already stripped off of one of them. The tread is wearing well though, and seems to be resisting the chemicals I expose the soles to very well, and we have some pretty harsh stuff at work. I will probably go back to Rocky Boots after this set wears out, but I am pretty happy with them thusfar.

Wolverines all the way man! I've had them for almost two years now and they have held up well.
