Privacy stuff on the web...

I've enabled my machine here at work to dump all of my temp files and previously visited websites and such when I close the browser, as well as not to save any cookies.... For anyone who is worried about privacy issues on the web and doesn't have this stuff enabled I would like to say humor yourself and enable to have everything cleared when you close your browser, It will be a huge wakeup call as to how much information is cached/saved and hidden on your PC somewhere saving login info and such.

I was well aware of what was being saved but even to me it’s a huge eye opener as to how much is saved somewhere.

Yeah it's pretty nasty. Lets just say I did a bad click once. When getting rid of the bad stuff I found lots of things. Things that will be there everytime I open my homepage. I did once dump enough to make my homepage think that I was new. That is becasue I only use it and never log in.

I started to do it here at work because my search results are polluted... We are working with SEO's or at least trying to prove they are not necessary for our company and I'm trying to get neutral results from google when searching for "fiber optics"

The more I was working on the site the better the results were getting and I started to see us apear on the first page for results and then we were top 4 and then above wikipedia... and I thought something was fishy since when searched on my phone I was on page 2. I found out Google will alter your results to benefit pages you visit on a regular basis making them come up higher on the results. The only way to fix that was to clear all temp and history as well as cookies.

Yeah I heard about what Google is doing and quit using them. I also hear that they sell info too.
Do I search for the samething all the time? Yes and no. If I'm looking for something I sure don't want to se the same stuff. And I sure don't want to see adds for things that I just bought.
The web was about info, now it's all bought making someone else money.

If you think google is the only one doing that stuff then your a bit blinded... just about everyone is making a penny off of you in some way. Read all of the search engines fine print and privacy policies.

I know. Bing is almost as bad. It's just that I get tired of the"if the others are doing it we should too".

I have the old ghost search, but haven't used it in years. I think they found a way around software like that anyway.

LOL I did a search for "ghost search", "safe search" and "add blocker". Bing shut me down when I looked for Geeks to Go. They might have something there to help so that's why I did the search. I checked and all I could get was that bing couldn't find anything. So I checked to see if the site was still up by my favorites(it was). Had to delete my browsing history and then Bing found all kinds of stuff.
Seems that if you are looking to fight back they will fight you.

Guess I will delete my browsing histroy everytime I go offline.

in terms of the SEO aspect, using appropriate meta tags and having legitimate content is the best way for search results to be accurate. If you do the website in house there is 0 reason to pay someone for SEO...... or they can pay me and I can do it lol

I definitely need to start doing more stuff like this especially since I just got a new computer. Advertisements on sites will be the last site I just visited. So if I was looking at shoes on Footlocker's site, the advertisements on another site will be for Footlocker.

Exactly my argument to the President... But what do I know... The guy from "Futurism Technologies" is apparently a much better salesman than I am... Even though all his tactics throw up a red flag... he contacted us first, he is guaranteeing first slot results, and he wants exclusive access to twitter/Facebook and any other social media accounts... Also tried to get the President to relinquish our web hosting to them and let them make our site using their own proprietary web editing software... I at least got him away from doing our website, now I just need to convince the him it will be a bad idea to have "Priyanka Upadhye" doing twitter and blogs...

But I did convince him to see what they can do, he is having them work on Fiber Optic as a keyword and giving them one or two months to see results, and we will see how quickly they get from page 11...

To clear ALL your PC's web cash and temp files, use this program: CCleaner
You can also use its registry repair to help clean up and speed up the OS and software you installed. It also helps remove problematic registry entries that can cause software glitches, even spyware stuff, I think we all know the rest...

Advice with this program: Close all open programs then run it. When you run it, make sure you scan and clean several times until it says nothing is left for both the history cleaner and registry cleaner and repair-er... AND it will clear your recycle bin when you use it, so make sure your ok with the files in there for deletion.

It also has the wipe free space option. This means it will write over the free space on your drive to ensure any deleted files are gone for good and any special scanning software wont pick it up.
However there is software that can retrieve data from several re-writing's ago, but the common PC thief or hacker wont know that, usually. I however used something like that on my server once when I accidentally deleted some scripts I wrote for the software I was running for my friends. lol

I've done a lot with computers, I even took the time to purposely install the strongest Trojan I could find on my PC a long time ago just to take the time to learn how to remove all traces of it and the mail-ware and viruses it installed after I put it there. :)
But I since then I reloaded my PC and locked it down good.
Anyone wants any PC help I can try to help when I have free time. :)

MSSE is free direct from microsoft, I use that on probably 90% of the systems I service these days
