WANTED: 1992 or 1993 Quad4 GTZ or 1994 Quad4 Z26

Post by DanteGTZ »

I'm looking for a 1992 or 1993 Quad4 GTZ or a 1994 Quad4 Z26. I'm willing to travel to pick the car up and have cash in hand.

Basic criteria:

Quad4/5spd combo
Running/Driving (unmolested original)
Power windows/locks
Decent body (paint condition isn't critical)
NO RUST
Dash needs to be in decent shape

A tall order, I know, but there has to be one out there! I sold my '93 GTZ years ago and have regretted it ever since - Looking for a suitable replacement.

Thanks

We always regret the sale of a special car. I still remember you and some other guy bidding blue visors to $100.

Bfest is in Denver if you are still out west.

Anyways...How are you doing sir?

Are you still in Blackfoot Idaho?

Wow... blast from the past.

Ernest has a black one, not sure if he's selling it. Needs engine work.

Another Bilmar special planned?

Yup - I sold my '93 GTZ in 2005 and have regretted it ever since. I bought a 2004 SRT-4 new and somehow let my GTZ slip away. I'll forever be a sucker to the GTZ and the 3rdgen F-Body... who knows why. I tried to find my old GTZ in Idaho but it appears to be gone - My friends in the area haven't seen it in a long time so I'm guessing the worst.

I drove to NC yesterday to look at a 1992 GTZ for sale but it turned out to be a complete and total turd. I've opened my search up to a nationwide search and am fully prepared with truck and trailer to pick one up.

My goal with the next GTZ is just to get it into nice shape and keep it forever. As long as the bones are good, I'm not opposed to one that needs engine work. I just want a car that has potential and hasn't been beaten up.

It is good to be back - I haven't really been up close to any GTZ, or any Beretta, for so long, it was really, really nice to get up close and personal with a GTZ yesterday (even if it was beaten to hell). I can't explain the feeling I got just looking at one - It brought me right back to the late 90's when I first got into Berettas...

As for "Ernest", how would I go about finding out if he's thinking of selling? I assume it's a 92-93?

I've seen a couple of those in my seemingly endless search.

Honestly, I'm really dead set on the 92-93 GTZs; Nothing wrong with the 90-91 models, just personal preference I suppose.

Keep 'em coming! I hadn't seen the last two before so this is good!

I'll contact him to see if he's wanting to unload it. He lives around Greensboro, NC.

You were in NC the other day? Do you live out this way now?

I'm in the Charlotte, NC area.

He is looking to unload it; all I remember about it was that it was black, Quad 4 5spd, original exterior (and interior I believe), with 280K and a bad engine (original engine at that). I'm trying to get details on it; if you are on Facebook, his name is Ernest Jones aka DJ Ern.

Here are a couple pics from 2005:

From his message on FB:

Condition body wise is good there is a dent in the hood interior Is good no rips or tears in the seats but drivers seat is toast along with headliner..has leaky carpet and the bullet hole in the interior quarter panel

Paint is ok but gm paint cancer is starting to set in on the hood and top of car..sunroof doesn't leak dash is bubbling tires on front have less than 1000 miles on them but they prolly wrotting out now..I'll grab some pics of car when I go home next week for Christmas

Ouch -I could overlook the mileage and engine problems assuming the rest was OK, but it sounds like a little bit more of a project car than I'd be wanting to get into. I'm really hoping (maybe too much) for a car with a good dash. I'd hate to have to find a replacement and then swap 'em out. Did he give any idea of what he's looking to get out of it?

I haven't asked, but I can.

A dash is no big deal; I'd rather deal with replacing a dash than replacing/cutting out/etc rusted out metal.

I definitely agree on that one! My main concern would be availability of a new dash or other parts. It seems as though support and parts accessability for these cars has completely died. It's quite sad. I haven't even seen a Beretta in our junkyards for like 2-3 years. That's one of my main reasons for wanting one in good shape - I'm having this hard a time finding a decent one, I can't imagine if I had to find a bunch of specific parts like a dash...

Oh, before I forget again, I did move - Back to East Tennessee! We've been back now for about 6 years.

He's thinking $500.

If you are ever back in Charlotte, look me up. I live in Concord now.
