Met a previous Beretta enthusiast today!

Post by whiteretta »

On my lunch break today I had to run over to Time Warner to switch out yet another bad box... And when I came out, the gentleman (whose name was Zach) that was parked beside me in a late 90's Camaro RS complimented me on the Beretta, and asked what all was done to it...

We had a nice conversation, he loved how my Beretta looked and had seen it a lot before, but never knew whose it was. Turns out, he had numerous Beretta's in the past, including a teal Indy with a 3400 swap, a quad 4 GTZ, and a Z26.

Someone had keyed his Indy down the sides, over his decals, and he still has the NOS Indy decal set hanging up. I asked if he'd heard about the forum because someone may be looking for these for a restoration, and he said he had heard about it before too.

I'd have to say that's my first run in with a fellow Beretta enthusiast in quite some time, it's always nice to meet someone that shares our interest in these not so popular cars!

Good story, sad that it's so rare these days. There is a helpful guy at a local GM dealer that I go to sometimes. He had a 89GT for many years and loved it!

I don't have my car out a lot, but some of the comments are priceless.

"I didn't think there were any of those things around anymore."

"My Dad had one of those." (I'm 63.)

"Is that the factory paint?" (I always say, "Yep that is original")

"Nice Cavalier"

"Is that the new Kia?"

FWIW!

Eric the one that gets me the most is when buying parts. Need a(something) for a 95 Beretta......what I get is "who makes that again?".

Or the Manager at a National tire chain that told me I had the nicest "J" Body he had ever seen when was having the Yokohamas installed.

When told him it was an "L" Body he looked at me like I had three eyes.

My girlfriend's in the Chrysler program at Sinclair Community College, and someone in her class, when passing the yellow Indy vert, said that was a weird Cavalier and she had to correct them lol.

I like to explain to people that no, I have the wider, longer, sportier version of the Cavalier... It's called a Beretta!

It was really neat getting to talk with someone that I didn't have to explain things about these cars to!

LOL L-Body/Beretta gets the same "what?!" look. Now if you say is a two door Corsica then they seem to understand. Why that is I have no clue.

Sadly, yes, I've had to say "two door Corsica" in the past...

At an old job there was a fellow that was pure "Murican" and despised anything "foreign jobber veehikulz" ..

That guy assumed the Beretta to be foreign and wanted to key it, until they spotted the bowtie in the grill... "say whuut, I'll be damned"

It still amazes me, and I'm not sure why it still does, how unintelligent people can be...
