Something got to come out of the garage today.
Got some exercise and some photos.
And also caught everyones attention while it was out.
I know it does not have the Windshield decal, I have the factory decal, I never put it on because I never had the chance to.
I also have many spare parts for it of various things just in case. lol.

I decided today is a nice day to touch up the few spots on the 90 GTZ that needed touch up paint.

Put my bass speakers back into my 96 Beretta.
I forgot how loud these speakers could get, I had to turn them way down.

I also forgot how much they weighed, no need for lowering springs in the rear. LOL.

Didnt take a photo yet. But I finally made the 90 gtz legal.
I removed the tint and glue from the two front side windows and windshield.
The rear side windows and rear window can keep the tint.
It was hard to remove but a hair dryer made it easy to come off.
The glue was worse though, I used some cleaners and nothing worked. So I got out the brake cleaner and the glue melted off the windows with it.
Only downside is I used a lot of paper towels. lol.

The car seems to need a battery, current battery is a bit weak. And it needs AC fixed.

Once that is done I'll have both the 96 Z26 swap and 90 gtz to daily drive and I can take them both with me depending on where I live.

New headliner on my 96 Beretta. I like the lighter grey color. It brightens up the interior and matches the seats better.
I have extra material for my sun visors, I'll keep it in storage, I do not have time to take them apart and sew the fabric onto them.

I decided to keep my 96 as my daily driver and travel car. I feel it would be more reliable than the quad4 at the moment due to the massive amount of miles I will be putting on the car.

The headliner looks great and it does match the seats! Did you have an upholstery shop do it?
Somehow my factory '93 headliner is holding on, I hope it stays that way.

We were able to do the job at home (Outside because glue fumes). I found the fabric on ebay and it turned out to be the right shade of grey for me.
The local fabric shop wasn't able to match it unfortunately, all they had were reds and blues.

The O'Riley Auto had the 3M headliner glue (Needed 3 cans). It is the type of job where you have to get it right the first time or you will ruin everything and have to buy new stuff and start over. It took 3 of us to carefully hold and apply the fabric after applying the glue. I recommend 4 people. The glue is so strong it will not come apart once it touches, so don't let it wrinkle. lol.

Yah the foam will hold to the fiberglass shell, its always the fabric that separates from the foam. Not touching it with hair or hands helps it last longer. Mine came down more over the driver seat because I'm tall and my hair always touched it.

I will do my sun visors later, those will require a sewing machine.

Doing more preventative maintenance on the 96, Decided I want new rear shocks on it.

I thought this would be a quick job, I was wrong.
Car is stuck in the air until I can locate the proper rear shocks for a 1996 Beretta.

The shocks are easy to find. The lower mounting bracket is hard to find. A lot of part numbers that show the bracket included with the shock don't actually include the bracket when the part arrives. I have 2 more options to check tomorrow, hopefully I can find this part.

I finally found the proper shocks. KYB brand. And According to the auto store they were the lase 2 available from the warehouse.
Everything else showed out of stock at all the auto stores.

The only other Option was the monroe shocks which said they included the bracket but did not in the 2 boxes I tried.

I cannot seem to find this part alone for the Beretta, but I did stumble upon something very similar, says it fits the Mustang 86-04.

So this may be an option for our newer Berettas in the future:

I'll make a separate post in the general section so its easier to search for future reference.

New Coolant tank. Factory tank got brittle, had hairline fractures around the 2 upper ports, one just started leaking a few days ago.
Came with a new coolant level sensor too.

Nice! When you see the nice, clean expansion-tank sitting in there, then look over at the old yellowed brittle piece that came out... Yeah, it looks so much nicer in the bay. :good:

Thanks :)
Yah, looks much nicer. The factory tank was actually a nice used replacement I had put in years ago because the original one cracked.
I guess the like new replacement eventually cracked too.
This one should last another 20 years for the car, its brand new.

Took my 96 Beretta to my local car show.
Someone stopped me as we were leaving and complemented how nice my 96 Beretta looks. Said he had a red GTZ in the past and he missed it.
Didn't take photos of the car, to busy talking to other people we knew. Going to have to wait till next year to take photos for the calendar.
