 As a note, typically POE (Polyol Ester Oil -shouldn't that be 'PEO'?) should be used when converting R-12 to R-134a. PAG (of any weight) does NOT like the R-12 oils, and IIRC can gum up if there is any residue in the system. POE is compatible with R-12 oils AND R-134a. If you don't want to use the oiler and are rebuilding the whole system, splitting the oil up evenly into the new components is a good method (compressor, condenser, evaporator, and receiver/dryer), and even if you just do the compressor and aren't replacing it all, make certain to follow the oil instructions on the compressor, usually they call for 25-50% of the oil to be pre-charged into the compressor. Also, if the system has been compromised at all, either from a chunked compressor or possible dirt or moisture contamination, flushing it out with Amazon's FJC-2710-System-Flush-Kit and their TSI Supercool FFG High Temp A/C Flush (or equivalent -1 gallon is too much, unless you are a shop) is highly recommended. The flush solvents I've used claim to be 'quick drying', but be ready to blow the system out with compressed air and let it wait a while before refilling. Lastly, remember to replace the orifice tube -it is a small screen that collects larger debris in the system and helps meter the refrigerant flow in most GM A/C systems, costs a couple of bucks at local stores, or under a buck online. Any O-rings you can access are good to replace too (be careful not to twist or kink the soft aluminum lines)-just get a kit of the right green rings and call it done.

Even though mine is a 91, it's a full R134a system with the TXV out of my 95. I used the info for that when doing mine.

Ok here are the best BerettafeSSt pictures. Mostly taken by someone other than me. Thanks to Tiffany and Lisa and Bria and Mark and Brian and probably more...

Tiffany has a thing for orange C6s.

Was the fastest N/A car at the track again. But I guess the committe is getting stingy on trophies! haha

Mark got my sharpied "mods" list.

Saturday night we went to Nashville with Jay and Lisa and hit the bars. The music down there is always good. I even got the band to play "Red Solo Cup!"

Sunday we caravanned to Brian's house and met up to run the Tail of the Dragon with Brian, Geoff, Jay and Lisa.

We just missed the photographer Killboy, so Tiffany and Lisa went ahead with Brian to get pictures of Jay and I coming back through. I also got a GoPro video but it came out looking pretty weak. 40 feels fast on tight turns, but it still doesn't look fast. haha

After the dragon Jay and I drove until about 1am and crashed at a hotel and made the rest of the journey home on Monday. An old friend of mine from Virginia saw us at a gas station and didn't realize it was me. I posted some pics on Facebook and she said she saw NY Berettas and it made her think of me - didn't realize it actually was me! haha

All in all, it was somewhere around 2500 miles without a problem. I pounded the drivetrain at the track and the suspension at the dragon, so I'm happy with that!

Get more people involved and maybe we'll bring it back... Not enough combinations even running to get all the ones we used to... Not a single quad there... lol

Yeah there used to be half a dozen different ones. But fastest NA and fastest artificially aspirated would make sense. I like racing competition because it's concrete, not just a popularity contest.

Been super busy doing stuff with the house for the little one on the way and trying to get some work done on the truck. So of course the Beretta just started acting funny and pegging lean on the wideband during AE and wanting to stall. Makes me look like I don't know how to drive! Time to get out the tablet and the Autoprom... #aintnobodygottimeforthat

13.57@100.0

Loaded it on the trailer and met up with Jon at Lebanon this weekend to try out my new slicks. They immediately dropped my 60' by 2 tenths and the 1320 by 4 tenths. But I'm still a tenth away from the all-time N/A Beretta record. Super packed so I only got 3 runs, but I think I can hit the record with some more seat time (and a 1/4 tank since my dumbass was full). But all in all, I can't complain. Cause it's a new best for this car and nothing broke. Oh and the new truck tows like a CHAMP. But that's for another post...

WHAT!? You didn't DRIVE it there? Well, I guess the truck needs to feel useful too, right? Seriously though, congrats, that has got to feel good, even if not quite where you want to be, you know you are closing in on it. Even without an official trophy, you know you've got it. 8)

Did you have to retune at all? What was causing the lean spike?

I fought the AE problem with 3 or 4 chip burns and couldn't get it happy. I think it's a mechanical issue. FPR being my first guess...they are vacuum referenced, so I'm thinking maybe something with the transient there being off. It may be related to the fuel smell I get under the hood on and off. Can't find a leak, but something is funny. I have a plan to address a few of those things this winter.

For the drag racing...I figured screw it! It shouldn't be noticeable at WOT and my air/fuel was in a good range except for the bottom of first. That may be the transient problem...or it may be that it was heavier load at a lower rpm than I've logged and tuned for before. The slicks brought the rpm down a little as they grabbed.

All in all, I'm pretty confident I can click off a 13.47 or better next year. Then I'll be happier. Haha

Oh and trailering... that's the main reason I bought it. I've driven to and broken at the track several times. Then you gotta call buddies and beg for a tow...screw that. I want to SEND IT without worrying about my ride home. Haha

Well you're getting pretty damn close and in fact have beaten MY personal best of 13.62.
The 13.47's came when Barb, at 118 pounds, took over the driving and Rodney played with the tune a bit.
And you likely only have 2/3 of the money I had invested, LOL!
Well done indeed!
Although mine was NEVER trailered ANYWHERE! :Yahoo!: %)

Haha so I've only been beat by a girl N/A... That's ok, my daughter will be a drag racer!

As I recall, your car broke at the strip once too. So we're even there. Manuals are just more violent. (And fun.) But I'm sure my car has seen at least as many long road trips. Probably more than most cars on the road! Haha

Hey let's be honest here.
That car was everything money could buy at the time.
3500, ported heads and WOT cam. Biggest Throttle Body I could buy.
3:73 gearing and a custom FK converter.
Drag radials and the LSD trans (3t40) was rebuilt almost monthly.
Rodney worked his butt off tuning the damn thing,
I did run the car with full interior and the spare in place.
Usually about 1/2 tank of fuel.
Funny thing is the 1992 OEM original fuel pump did the job! Your aftermarket beauties are a waste of money!!
Go for it Woody.
It's time someone stepped up.
Cheers
