I don't know if I've shared this info before...but last year I struck a deal with a buddy of mine to trade Camaro labor. He owns the metal shop doing all the laser work for me, and he wants me to LS swap his barn find 69 Camaro and put a Speedtech suspension under it. I told him I didn't have time for outside projects, even though he wanted to pay me pretty well. Then an hour or so after our talk, it dawned on me that I could build his car if he had his shop painter paint mine. So we agreed that was a good idea, and planned for this (current) winter. Then his painter left his shop. So, I dunno. I don't want to paint it myself, but I might. I fear the final result won't be as good as I desire.

You could maybe shoot the engine bay or edge some parts; door jambs, underside of the hatch and what not and get some time behind the gun and see how it goes. If you have to buy all the paint line products though the cost can be staggering. I painted a small sign for my sister a year ago. It cost me around $300 because I had to buy more primer, hardener for the clear coat and reducer for the PPG line I currently have. 20 years ago my PPG clear cost $4/0z to spray

The painting part I'm not scared of. I used an hvlp gun for years at work and I did lay the first paint job down on my 91 "SS". The problem is I can't get the body work underneath it good enough for nice paint. No sense blowing money on some nice metallic and clear when the work under it isn't smooth

Ah, I got ya. Hopefully something works out. I need to eventually address some dents in my supra and its black so no room for error.
