Transaxle Problems

Post by combatjm »

I have a problem with my '94 Beretta (base model V6 3.1 Liter FI - 189 CID VIN M O.H.V., with 4T60E transaxle). The engine starts and runs fine. The car will shift into reverse and move in reverse. If shifted into drive (or 1 or 2 also), however, the engine stalls out immediately. I cannot I.D. what it could be. Fluid is good. I even disconnected the wires for the TCC lockup circuit, thinking the torque conveter was in lockup. But that didn't explain still moving in reverse. No change.

Help! I really need to get this car going for my youngest son. Thanks ahead of time for any input.

Transaxle Problems

its sounds to me like the lock in converter.are you sure you unplugged the right wire.I would double check it to be sure.because there is really no other thing that would make the trans do this.

When was the last time the car moved forward? The trans could just be plain messed up I know in my cougar I had drive gears, no reverse. It fried the shift solenoid on it and by the time the person stopped driving it, it really burnt the bands and clutches in it. Just my .02
