trim panel retainers

Post by Money pit Beretta »

Today I put my old Vega 6x9's in my 95. I went to the parts store to get the trim panel retainers. I got a box of 15 made by Dorman and they were junk. They broke when I put them in. I did get a few in by trying to do it slow and easy. Took the panel out to the car and those broke when I pushed the panel on. Do not buy these, the part # is 799-115 for the box of 15 and the three pack is the same junk.
I did find a place online and will ask them who makes the ones they offer. If they are any good I'll let everybody know.

Tell me if they are worth it. I'm going to buy some from Northland Fasteners. They are made by a company by the name of Au-ve-co. They only come as a set of five and I need six. Oh well, at least I'll be able to check them out and see if they are any good. I need to take my door panels off, so I'll need to find a larger amount.

They seem better, i can't snap em to 10 pieces with my fingers, like i could do with the Dormans.

I'l report the results soon.

I never use that style.  I use the ones that are a full circle and have what looks like a pie peice taken out of them.

Lemme Google for a pic.
