CS130 Alternator Rebuild Kit
CS130 Alternator Rebuild Kit
Has anybody ever rebuilt a CS130 alt? well I guess so...
I am not looking for 140 amps, I am looking for a long lasting reliable alternator. I would use the standard kit (this one comes with the additional cooling ribs, I wouldnt mind)
Is that good stuff here? Any opinions? Anyone ordered here?

Not to mention, the iceberg kit makes for a much better alternator.

Jon, I don't think that alt is going to work with the 3100 unless you use an older 3.1 alternator bracket. Part of your mount is on the back cover if I remember right.

Re: CS130 Alternator Rebuild Kit
It is a CS130, but there's many different cases for them depending on the application.
CS130 just means that it's a CS series with a 130mm stator

Re: CS130 Alternator Rebuild Kit
I modified Quad alternator to fit V6 only by removing 3 bolts, turning the other half of the case to next position, and back together. Also there was a small tab to prevent this, that i cut away. The 3100 mod may be similar deal.

Re: CS130 Alternator Rebuild Kit
No, the 3100 has two very larg ears on the front housing and rear housing that are used as the lower bolt pivot point. I don't see that in the image posted.

And for reference, You can see the 3100 mounting bracket in this photo.

I sent them an e-mail asking if this kit can be used on a factory alternator and not require the new rear finned housing. With the external air cooling duct that came on a 96 it may be fine the way it is.

Re: CS130 Alternator Rebuild Kit
just swap out the alternator bracket... It's only held on with a few bolts.

Re: CS130 Alternator Rebuild Kit
You can swap to the 3.1 bracket Jon. But you need to slightly modify it, since the 3100 mount needs to sit flush on it. It just takes a bit of grinding, and then you need spacers to take up the room between the fins. (You will know exactly what Im talking about when you have a 3.1 bracket in your hand). Then I used washers behind it instead of the engine lift bracket. I seem to recall that the engine lift braket will not fit, which is why I used the washers. I did all this so that I could use my 3.1 Iceberg alternator, which is actually a quad alternator that I did the reverse of what Weba is talking about up there. LOL.

Re: CS130 Alternator Rebuild Kit
I'm starting to wonder if it's worth the trouble of using the older bracket though...
I'll wait and see what they say when they reply to my e-mail.

Re: CS130 Alternator Rebuild Kit
This is not a higher output kit, this is simply a better design and better internal parts. Yes they do have a 140 amp version and I can only assume the drag is relative to how much load your putting on the electrical system.
