Ask Cliff... I could only get one number for one control arm from GMPartsDirect... the control arms are avilable over the counter at a Parts store so no need to get GM unless you think quality is different.

As far as the frame rails go... I highly doubt you'll get those from GM... and if you do I bet you'll fork out over 500 for them.

GM still has one rail listed and not sure on control arms.

As for the control arms, they're like this..

L/R - 22611129/22611130 - 94-95 FE1, FE2 - 96 ALL

L/R - 22611131/22611132 - 94-95 FE3

The subframes are..

L/R - 22583875/22637368 - 94-96 All.

I have a set too, the structure on those aren't as reliable that's why I'm not switching, I've heard the rear bushings mount area could possibly crack or break free from the rail.

I haven't broken a old style arm yet. Mine are rust free and seam welded.

I think vertical bushings are a bad design. They defiantly promote wheelhop, too much poly to flex in the front to back back motion

I was just looking at 98-04 STS and the fronts are plastic and the rear are rubber. If you want something a bit more aggressive the rears on these could be made from the plastic i am using for rear suspension. The durometer is going to be greater than using the softer urethane.


I will try to get photo's of the STS suspension today.

Its not the arm thats weak, they are exactly the same pretty much, its the mount in the rail that is known to break off.

The control arms are weak, i bended both of mine (old style) to hell just by adjusting the Koni's tighter, and they aren't even that stiff on maximum stiffness when compared to real quality shocks... Now waiting how long control arms will last on my White car....

Do you have any pics of the weak area you're talking about? My subframes are still out of the car and the welder still has plenty of argon & wire...

I'm not 100 percent positive on the area, I just remember being told this after I did the swap to 92 rails on my red car... and granted I never had any issues.

I may just end up using those after looking them over and evaluating it, and possibly welding stuff up, but it's just the fact that I need to get them out so it would wait till next year before I swap to them.

And yes Weba I know the arms are weak in that respect, but that wasn't the weakness that I was being told about, or speaking of.

These control arms from a 2001 STS have a different compound on one side. It is harder much like the plastic/UHMW i am using for the rear suspension.
