Indy Yellow Decal Hoax?
I may be totally wrong on this, maybe way off base but I just had the oddest sequence of events happen to me.
A source gave me a lead to someone with 3 COMPLETE set of Inday Decals for the Yellow indy cars. I mean COMPLETE still in bags un opened. So I contact the person via email I was given. It took a week to get reply #1. I advised I am interested in the decals, were they for sale? YES, that took days to get in reply too. I wanted to buy, what will they take, DAYS go by, they finally replies what will you offer, reply sent with offer of 80 bucks which I based off of what little info on prev sales found here bared out to be a recent price. They would email days later again and just say yes they are for sale, no sayin gyes or no to my offer, no I want more, nothing, just a bland reply. I would then say what do you want I can come up, they took days to reply AGAN. Again the reply was very empty, no substance. I would send another email that clearly put them in the drivers seat to pretty much name the price. Again days go on before another reply of little substance. It starts to feel as if I am having a game played on me? Again maybe I am totally wrong. But they are replying to me from a smart phone so they have instant access to the net, they know they have a very interested buyer that on purpose had tipped his hand that he would pay a decent price for them yet not giving up the farm for them. So the emails take days to go back and forth then last night I send out my final email, NAME YOUR PRICE Folks. This time I get a fast reply, NOT SELLING.
You know how sometimes you get that feeling in you stomach that something just is not sitting right with a situation and you feel that you need to walk away or that you being played or that your being mislead. That is what I felt really after the 3rd email that was empty totally ignoring what my last email has asked/stated. I feel this person is a HOAX and is just playing with folks that come their way. I was willing to give the person 500 bucks for all three sets. Or about 180 bucks a set. I think that is way fair. I guess not if they are for real.

Re: Indy Yellow Decal Hoax?
Well I will not give out names or emails, that is not my right but I can post the pics of said decal sets as they are COMPLETE sets with EVRYTHING, including one with the part# clearly showing for a complete set. These pics came from a photo bucket type of account.
Word to the wise, I would proceed with caution with this person. Maybe they are holding on for more $$ down the road? Personally I think the older these get the less they are worth because these cars are more and more rotting away somewhere, broke down somewhere soon to be junked as the years pass making the stickers worthless because no one is restoring these cars. Hell on this site alone execpt for me I have seen few folks here restoring these Yellow indy cars.
Perhaps I am wrong about the person.

Here are the pics of them. They look damn nice. All I can say to the person is if you hold your cards too long you sometimes lose the bet.

Re: Indy Yellow Decal Hoax?
Just seems to me if this were real, these were avail, the person would have at the least thrown out a price for a set that was steep but still a little reasonable.

Re: Indy Yellow Decal Hoax?
I have to assume based on these were described here as coming with the car, the decal set that came from the factory with the car did not have the dash badge, the silver stickers from the concept car comp, the back chev bumper insert. Seems maybe these were for converts that never made it to the streets?

Hell I even gave the dude my name and # to calll and talk turkey. No call.
Again perhaps I am way off base on this and the dude is told of these posts and calls me. If so my bad then, but at this point what I have to work from in all this, the whole think sticnks of a hoax.

Re: Indy Yellow Decal Hoax?
If the guy you're dealing with is Kyle, you couldn't be more wrong. He's the only guy I know of with all the C&C stuff and he's always been a class act to deal with.
If it's someone else who just stole pics from his photobucket, well then I dont know what to tell you other than to proceed with caution.
As far as the decal sets being worth less as time goes by I'd have to argue with you there. The fact that there are less Indys around doesn't mean those sets are worth any less. There are also quite a few nice yellow Indys still around as well. I know of 3 within 50 miles of my front door that are in excellent shape with very low miles. They're still around, just not everyone is trying to dump theirs off as desperately as you are.
Hopefully, you can find the set you need and get them at a decent price!

It wasn't Kyle... those are from his photobucket account, but Kyle doesn't own those.
Tim, I know who you are talking about... I think he works ridiculously long days.

Re: Indy Yellow Decal Hoax?
Since you put the name out there, it was a Kyle A. (going to assume the same person) BUT he sent me to another person that was selling them, it was not Kyle selling. I have no ill words for Kyle.
I prefaced my wording of the apparent sale of these many times that maybe I was wrong but I felt that it seemed a little odd as it drug out and the person I was dealing with was VERY DODGEY (that a word?) in the whole process.
Unless the person can come here and defend his HONOR I feel that it may have not been what it was cooked up to be.

That is fine, I can totally understand that. But when you have access to the net via a smartphone where he was able to get to his email at any moment, specially when he knew he had a buyer I think a busy day still comes with lunch breaks, breaks, 30 min's of down time at home, etc. But I don't even fault all of it on that. It was the fact that I would send emails and get replies back that made no sense, very elusive, very non commital when I more or less told him, bend me over I will pay it, then he says I AM NOT SELLING, that was it, nothing else in the last email. Ha ha ha. How would you feel?
All I am saying is that it all felt out of sorts, all the exchanges and I did say maybe I was wrong about that but sure how it felt.

What the gently caress does this statement mean? Appears you are taking a shot at me. I bought the car real cheap, got it back together as well as I could with what I had to work with and since my son does not want it and since has been given a truck in exchange for the car I am on the fence of flipping the car or keeping it and bringing it home so to speak as far as restoring. Who the hell doesn't do that at times with cars in life. Hell I have been told here it is worth 1500 to 2k, that is what I have offered it here for, 2k. What is wrong with that? What is desp. about it.
Your tone sucks and I don't need it.

That arguement is not real valid, the NICE ones don't need new decals, most of the others ones like mine, most will not be getting restored, other ones still left are out in fields rotting away, or in a junk yards picked apart. Again, not to insult but this car is not a Camaro or Stang or any other prospective collector car of the same time that if restored is worth $$ and that will go up in the coming years. Most folks will look at the car dealers for these decals, goole it a little, even come here, find out they are not avail and move on. Thus demand for this hard to find part will be low, thus cost for said part is not the world as you seem to paint it.

Re: Indy Yellow Decal Hoax?
Dont really care if you care for my "tone" or not. If it offended you that's your problem. The reason I said what I said is because in your for sale thread you were posting like you had some form of tourretts which made it seem to me like you really needed to sell the car.
As for nice cars not needing decals, that's crap too. These decals were printed on clear vinyl. They dont hold up well regardless of how well you take care of the car. My GTU only has 67k on it, it's very well taken care of, and the printed decals have faded. I paid a small fortune to get replacement decals thru VPI. My point is, if someone really wants them price is not a problem. If you really want to restore it I wish you the best of luck finding a set as the indy is truly an awesome car.
Wasn't trying to start a pissin match dude.
