heater blowing weak.

Post by BerettaMN »

my 91 the heat blows hot but when on high it seams pretty weak, but it does switch speeds from low/med/high. Im wondering if its the blower motor/fan? The ducts all seem to open/close like they should betwean heater/defrost/vent. its a 3.1 if that matters. What does everyone else think?

The door might not be opening all the way. Check vacuum lines

I would put serious money on the intake side of the a/c evap core being plugged. The only way to find out & correct it is to remove the blower motor/fan housing & intake on the engine side. You will find a pic of mine (a 1992) on my photobucket site. Mine was totally plugged with accumulated crap from 20yrs of sucking in debris.

The job is a royal pain the ass, but not impossible. Plus you'll have the chance to finally sand & repaint the housing shiny new black again.

was it vacuum-able? , or needed a lot of coaxing to come off? probably needs a soaking in some solvent? and would drip all over the inside floor if you washed it in place...

Soft brush with a shop vac running at the same time so it sucks up what you loosen.
