From what I can gather the size and spline count of the axle inners are the same between auto and manual.3X00-Modified wrote:
Only issue is, are all the axle inner's the same?
and that's odd, that engine bracket looks exactly the same as his, but if the motor mount comes free from that then I can use his poly filled mount with that bracket and jack shaft.
Anyone have a part number for the trans seal? I'm ordering a cam sensor from RA today and would like to order that at the same time.
I just need to do some test fitting of that jack shaft to ensure alignment is correct, I don't want any issues down the line.
Yes, the motor mount just unbolts from the engine bracket. What's the GM part number on his original engine bracket? The part number should be stamped into it.
I believe the part number for the trans seal is 3543
I'm not sure why you need to do any test fitting for alignment, it's a direct bolt on to the 3400. I'm not confused about the process in which you took the engine and trans out or how you want to put it back in, I was just showing that you can put it in all together instead or separate.
Barry and Alpine *The 3500 talk in here needs to stop because you're confusing people! Roberts engine is a 3400, not a 3500* lol, carry on

Brett the money just when out so you should have it very soon.
Yes the beretta jack shaft lines up better with a 3500 swap car.
But the iron one is stronger.BLAH BLAH
Im getting both so who cares anymore.
BLAH BLAH BLAH
Jon the one from Alex said it would be there on monday.
So it's fine if thats the one you want to use?
Bretts wont be there untill the end of the week i would guess.

Re: Roberts 89GT Engine build.
I looked a little further into this out of curiosity, and as I said before, they are different.3X00-Modified wrote:and that's odd, that engine bracket looks exactly the same as his
Robert's engine bracket should be GM Part # 22581662 (used on various GM models for both automatics and manuals from 87-94)
My engine bracket is GM Part# 22587202 (used only on V6 5 speed 94 J bodies)
My jack shaft is also 94 J body V6 5 speed specific. Prior to 94, V6 5 speed Beretta's and Cavaliers used the same exact weak jack shaft (2 different styles depending on the production year).
If GM would have produced a V6 5 speed Beretta in 94, I can assume they would have used the same engine bracket and jack shaft as the 94 J body. Even though only used for 1 year, IMO it is a GREATLY improved design and the J body guys love them!

Re: Roberts 89GT Engine build.
Yeah jon the engine looks perfect.
You did an amazing job!!!
I think the 94 bracket would work i just worried about it lining up.
But it's should be fine Superdave said either would work.
But he likes the steel better so there you go brett.
You win stop talking about it.lol

So... The AC delete Pulley... WHY DOESN'T IT FIT?!
Re: Roberts 89GT Engine build.
Are you using the A/C parts under the mount? I think you have to use some of the pieces that hold the pump on with it, if I recall.

Yeah I also realized I was holding it with the wrong face facing out... Two more min of thinking and I saw what I was missing, and yeah you need the original 3x00 ac bolts and spacer, good thing I had a spare set.

Re: Roberts 89GT Engine build.
slight lope... not a lot and it will go away quick with rpm... I think around 1200+ it idles smooth, at least my old red car did with similar duration on the cam, but down low at 800 or 700 idle it was there.

Re: Roberts 89GT Engine build.
I was just trying to alleviate worry about it lining up and attempting to put a stop to any false rumors about it not being a perfect direct bolt-on. I don't know who Superdave is, but good for him! lol I think you tried calling me earlier, I was busy...Robert 89gt wrote: I think the 94 bracket would work i just worried about it lining up.

Jon, if you want to ignore my posts that's fine, the build looks great so far!
