91 gtz, surges upon acceleration. please help...
Hey, I have a 91 v6 gtz, it surges upon acceleration and lacks power, I cleaned the tb, iac, and changed the plugs and wires on it. The check engine light flicks on and off... my guess is the tps but I wanted some answers..

blinking SES light is telling you that there is probably a missfire... I'd start with ignition components and or plugs.

It does it while driving... usually when you let off the gas, it doesn't sound like its missing or anything.

the ses light never flashes for any other purpose, any other code it illuminates when something goes wrong, if its flashing on and off then its trying to tell you its misfiring. If you don't feel that it is doing that then you'll have to find a way to try and pull whatever code may be present, either through the paper clip deal or find a OBDI reader.
I always say if the car doesn't feel right and there is an SES light then the best place to start is get that code or find out what code is making it flash, thats the only way you can intelligently start trouble shooting.

yes start by researching how to read the codes, and go with the info the codes give you. likely O2 sensor, or EGR ports clogged.
4th one's a charm, 5th one is, beginnning to sound like this is an addiction...

okay, ive done the paper clip trick, and this thing blinked... and didnt stop blinking, after 2 and a half mins of blinking i stopped, my question is does it stop blinking?? looks to me like it repeats the pattern or something, how does one know when it started over or when to stop counting?? i know, i know... i feel so stupid right now but i really never did this...

No problem. Flashes will be grouped with pauses in between. I am going from memory on this (in order to give you a prompt reply), but this is how I think it goes:
Flash (short pause) Flash Flash = Code 12 (slightly longer pause) Flash (another short pause) Flash Flash = Code 12.
(You'll get a couple of code 12's at the start of a code read, lets you know you are in diagnostic mode)
Then come your stored code(s):
Flash Flash Flash Flash (short pause) Flash Flash Flash = Code 43
(additional codes, if any, will then flash)
Sequence will wrap up with a Code 12 to let you know you are through the list.
I know that there is probably a nice writeup about this in the forum, but here is something I found on the web:

Good luck and Happy New Year!
