Few problems

Post by rider »

Hello i just bought a beretta gti 1991 2.2
Looks great but there were and are many problems with it , english is not my first language so i try to explain well..
If i turn on my engine then its all fine , when i start to drive first gear works well but if i put on second and try to press gas turns fall and it starts to dawdle and sometimes it dies out . but sometimes it works almost fine . and it takes alot of gas. frind told me that it could be maf but i think in this one there is no maf. i changed gas filter but nothing changed
And engine fan sometimes dont stop working when i stop my car iven if i start it and then turn it off it still goes on can i unplug it there is no point for it in winter..
And i cant tighten my hand brake from the bottom its rusted and im afraid to brake it.. what should i do ?
thanks for help

Hi and welcome. Where are you from? I know it's in Europe somewhere.
It has a MAP sensor and that could be a problem. Yes you can unplug the fan in winter, but there is a problem that is making it stay on. My guess is the temperature sensor in the head. That can cause many problems. The computer reads info from it and makes changes to spark and fuel.

Where is the parking brake rusted at? Sounds like you have a 5sp trans.

That's a first here, Estonia that is.
Yes that sensor(coolant temperature) could cause a bigger gas expense and make the fan stay on.

3X00 what do you think?

Could be TPS sensor or anything else related to fuel delivery, Pressure regulator, injectors, map sensor, and so on... Its been sitting and depending on what that location was it could be just age. If you havent changed the fuel in it I would higly suggest doing that first.

Thanks for the reply 3X00, I don't feel like I'm helping much.

It has to be tough to get parts over there. And I would like to get it right. We have it somewhat easy over here.

i unplugged fan and after a long ride engine started boling and steaming , its -10 degrees wtf ?
what removes rust well ?
its not hard to get parts, in my city there are many us parts shop , it just takes 2 days to get the parts to shop and i think its more expensive than you got there ...
bstuff dosent work for me there are only links or ads or whatever they are , no content...

Dang you sure you don't have a stuck T stat?
I don't think you have it over there but Rust Buster is great. They may have it at a hardware store. Real nasty rust, well a wire brush or a wire wheel on a drill would do it.
If you have alot of money I'd flush the cooling system too. If the Thermostat is stuck then the flush will have to come after the thermostat is replaced.
Oh and Bstuff is gone. Many people are over here now.
