1988 beretta, good deal or not?
Hello, after months of attempting to find a Beretta I finally found one that I am going to get, I found someone that has a 1988 Chevy Beretta, A/T 2.8 Liter V6 engine and wants to sell it to me for 1400 dollars. The car only has 54,500 miles on it and they just fixed it up so it can run well.
Does this sound like a good car to be purchasing for the price? I thought so for sure!

*edit this one shows the damage http://northernwi.craigslist.org/cto/3400063133.html
I think its overpriced for the amount of body damage it has.

Actually yes. xD She said it had a dent in on the passenger side door, thats not to bad, plus I have a buddy with a body shop that I would have repaint it for next summer. Shouldn't be that bad, right?

That panel would need to be replaced, you can't just pull that dent without huge amounts of bondo... Plus, it already looks like it had bondo work done in that area before. I would get a carfax or similiar report and find out the history of that car first.
Then if you are still interested in it, talk them down to 900.
I'm not an expert, but I did stay at a holiday inn express!

Hmm, and how difficult would it be to replace that panel? Not so bad right? Also is the 2.8 a good engine?

the 2.8 is a mighty fine engine, but don't buy it without seeing it first hand and driving it. Make sure there is nothing wrong with it or you might have a longer drive home then you first thought.

I do believe that's the same car I was going to buy a few months back for $200 in central wisconsin. All it needed was a coilpack. That's a pretty big markup for a coilpack!

Really? You sure it was that one because I will bring that up to them and they should lower the price on it lol.

Check it out good first though if you buy it, the front bumper and fender(s) were replaced from the looks of it (and maybe the grill and hood), and I can see some rust above the rear bumper on the passenger side just from the pictures.

It sure looks like it. That body damage looks exactly the same. An ederly gentleman was going to get rid of it because he didn't want to put any more money in it. After discussing what he'd changed and what it was doing it basically sounded like an issue I had when my icm went. I was only going to pick it up for the k-frames and the Z51 rear set-up but I found my second GTU instead. It could be a different car but I really doubt it. Brett may remember it as well, I'll ask him.

You CAN repair that damaged area... My car had nearly the exact same dent and I had a body shop pull it out, repair and primer done in 1 day for $450. BUT, I got a smoking deal on the work...
