The trans itself is the cheap part. It's the retrofit stuff that gets to be big money.

Been busy with the truck and the OT at work.
From what I'm reading on 60degreev6, the 6spd is sounding less desirable. Which is probably a good thing, because it is a lot more time and money than another 5spd...

Hey, you are already into this car what? 10 grand? What's another 1000 or more? LOL
Still, I think the 5spd makes more sense. Just need to have it rebuilt good and try not to break it!

Funny. Tiffany suggested I get Lisa's trans when she was talking about her car heading for the crapper...
Yeah right!

My car won't beat Jon's. But I want it to be the first stock 3400 in the 13s. An auto aint gonna cut it.

Why mess with a good thing. Put another hm282 in, and pound it until something breaks. Rinse and repeat as necessary.

I already have another 282 in the garage waiting (with 158k). When I tear down the busted one and see exactly what went wrong I'll make my game plan...but I'm assuming shift fork. Thinking about maybe a cryo treatment on the forks as insurance against metal fatigue. My trans had somewhere around 200k on it.
