I painted it "hammered gray" same as the rear swaybar. Kind of hides it.
Started ripping the car apart yesterday and got the trans ready to pull. Between the time in the cold garage and my wife being sick all last week I'm feeling shitty today. This bug has kicked her ass for a few days so I'm gonna take it easy so I don't get hit as hard.

Shouldn't you put some gussets on the inside of those corners to strengthen up the bar? I just see that length and angle having the ability to flex more than the round bar setup did, but I think the increased room by doing that with the bar is WAY better than the old one. Almost makes me want to do it.

The inherent strength in the round bar going straight across is ideal, but it is not real practical. I thought about adding a gusset, but that will also take away from the clearance. I kept the angle a 45 because I figured that would be a good compromise between clearance and strength. The bar is pretty rugged though. The plates are thicker and the square tube is welded at all 4 sides rather than the one weld where the round tube was crushed flat.
I have 3 pairs of the plates left over and one spoken for, so if you and Jon want the other two pairs that would work. You have to drill out the bolt holes and round the bottom side where they mount on the unibody. I'll unload em for $10/pair and you can get the bar stock at Ace hardware for $12 for a 3' length. It's about 4' total do it, I had some extra left from the seat mounts.

The MRZ design looked better than what I had purchased from Aaron like 8 years ago. That's one of the reasons I wanted to build one. I texted about cutting more...will post when I have news.
