Well, it needs alignment work. Since it was last aligned with the damn strut mounts installed wrong it needs to be corrected. I'll fix the toe tonight and see how it is, hopefully I can get out of blowing cash on another alignment. That would be the third one for this car. haha

Get toe plates and an angle gauge... That's all you need and you can get it spot on. Hell I've used my phone to verify my camber.

The last time I got it aligned it only a couple tenths from my beer can alignment. So I'm gonna try that again. This looks nice, but it's pricey:

Be aware though, thats a magnetic camber gauge... Wont work with aluminum rims. You can only hold it to the hub to verify and wont be able to do caster if you even have tables.
I have a set of Longacre toe plates and tapes... just lacking a angle gauge so that's why I borrow one from Larry from time to time.

Doesn't the camber gauge go on the toe plates for measurement? And if not, that hardly seems worth it. What is special about the toe plates anyway? Can't I do the same thing with any flat surface?
So on my lunch break I noticed a slight hiss and idle bump when I'm on the brakes. Must be a seal in the booster leaking a little. At least that's not too bad to change. I looked all over for my spare from the 95Z while it was apart and couldn't find it...must have chucked it at some point. I hate when that happens. haha

The camber gauge is supposed to go right on to the center of the hub bearing area, and unlike a regular car (that you would see in a circle track theme) where there is a big cast part sticking out that is magnetic, ours is shielded by the wheel which is aluminum.
And yes you can really use any flat surface to do a toe measurement, but after using the plates on the race car and it being super easy and possible to do it alone I just wanted them. It makes the job easier when the slots in the plate hold the tape in place.

Here's an alternative "SS" idea for my car. I designed it to mimic the GTU/GTZ decals.

I had 5/8 toe out and now I'm at 1/16 toe in. Beer cans FTW. Rack blanket finally came in today! So now that is done too. I also had an old starter wrap blanket from the Camaro I put around the air conditioning and heater core lines for good measure. Might help block a little firewall heat too. Your feet get toasty on long road trips. haha

1/16" ftw... Toe in just that amount gives the best feel... It's crazy that 1/16" out will chance the road like crazy and never center the wheel nicely.

Yeah, as soon as I drove it yesterday I could really feel the 5/8 out screwing with the steering. Much better today. I just gotta grab a brake booster from the yard and I'll be set. And charge the AC. Weather has been beautiful though...no need for AC.

I didn't notice it that much on my GT, but the turn-in sure is good.

Grabbed a booster last night, what a pain in the dick. haha The only L-body was a 96 Corsica in a briar bush...and it had the infamous water leak...and no tilt steering...and a car right next to the driver door. So after I cut down the briars as best I could I had to pull the steering wheel to get under the dash. The ABS unit and MAF make the master cylinder tougher to get out compared to mine. This thing better work beautiful! haha

that much work is almost worth $75 for a reman one from Rock Auto.
