great news, trans is rebuilt and on the car! waiting for rain to pass for a test drive

more great news, couldn't wait for rain to pass, but the car drives better than it ever has. Always had a vibration, between 100-130kph (62.1371-80.7783mph for the Americans) now has none. Couldn't tell if there are any leaks underneath, will have to wait for the garage to dry out. Hopefully a step closer to Mississippi

as of the 29th the shop couldn't even split the case and now it's all done and in by the 31st... Not too shabby I guess as long as they actually did something. LOL

Yes it was outsourced! I guess the manual from Eric was the key. I am a professional nerd but only an amateur mechanic.

Have some bad news about it though, my friend that was helping me put the transmission into the car was under connecting the last grounding wire on the backside forgot to plug in the VSS. Figuring that's what it was last night when I went out for a testdrive didn't think much of it turned on myself phone GPS speedometer, no big deal. Tonight I decided to plug the sensor in and go for another test drive I was very disappointed to find that I still had no speedometer.

Messaged the mechanic that did the rebuild, hopefully this does not require this to be removed again. Yayyyyyyyyyy!

Maybe the VSS is bad?

That's what I am going to try and take out tonight but have a feeling it's going to be difficult. The VSS worked perfectly before the rebuild, but who knows if it may have been damaged. Has anyone ever had to remove one of these before ? Haven't had much luck in the past removing plastic sensors from metal. Going to spend 45 mins on it tonight and if I can't figure it out, going to be pulling the transmission back off. I can have it out in about 3 hours.

It's not a plastic sensor in a item that heat soaks as bad as say the block does with the crank sensor, so odds are it should come out easier than that.

After looking in the manual for the car the VSS is a magnetic pickup, tried ohming it out and get an open circuit with a good sensor plug. Seems to point to this being bad. Well I didn't have any luck trying to yank it out of the hole its been in for the last 25 years. Going to see if my mechanic can take a stab at removing it on the hoist. Laying on the cement with pliers into the exhaust doesn't offer the best leverage.

Oh the things having a time machine would be good for.

So according to that cluster 12v is still 12v in Canada... and F still means Full.. LOL

I thought F meant really fast

Fun job to replace old funky faulty sensors. At least ya got it tho!
