Allright, i got that part out without removing this cover and found out the steering coloumn i got from a 91-93 automatic car isnt the same as mine.. DAMNIT! its pretty cheap build.. even where the lock cylinder slide in, theres a plastic gear wheel where mine is metal. i knew its not exactly the same steering column because its not heigh adjustable and from an automatic car but damn... why is that part different.
me and my buddy took the steering back together after we teard it completly apart and seen the part is different.

is there a way to weld this broken part of my steering? if not, i have to swap in the non-adjustable and without cruise controle steering column so i can drive the car for now.

I think it may be pot metal, so you can't weld it. I could be very wrong on that though. If it's aluminum then you can weld it as long as the weld doesn't get hung up on something. Bet you already knew that though.

I doubt there is a difference between manual and auto, but a difference between tilt and non tilt definitely. You need to find a tilt wheel for your year.

I can get you a correct grey 1990 manual steering column with tilt and cruise, but as you know shipping would be expensive and I don't know the cost of the part until I ask.

thanks brett but i think i will hit the junkyard in switzerland this weekend and get a steering from an 91 gtz(my car is also a 91). i bought a steering for 50€ some days ago and found outs its pretty much different. for some reason the steering is shorter so i cant connect it to my car and also the mounting is different.

On the right is my original steering column and on the left is the one from a V6 automatic(no tilt and cruise).
Why the hell is the left steering so short? lol
i thought i put that thing in and live for some weeks without tilt and cruise, to can even move the beretta but then i was about to swap it in and looked at it and i was like "wtf?!" :D
mounting is different too but cannot really see it on that picture.

Guys, i really thought they are all the same steering columns but they are not! Look at this picture:

Look at the mounting plate and the lenght of the steering itself. The steering on the right side is the one out of my car, the other one is from a 92 or 93 beretta automatic without tilt and cruise.

Wow! I never thought there would be that much of a difference. Sucks that you had to be the one to find that out.

Tilt will make a difference in the internals, but the image of the column on the right just looks like the shaft is free and able to go further down... There is no way the length could be that different. Unless the GTZ didn't have the universal rubber coupler inline but I highly doubt that.

universal rubber coupler? I've had my column unbolted few times, and can't remember see'ing anything like that.

Its like a universal joint with a rubber disc in the middle... I wonder if it's a non GTZ option... for ride and comfort perhaps...

Something very similar to this.

Its at the end of the steering shaft and right on the input to the steering rack.

I'm almost 100% positive that my Z does not have one.
