Some updates to the swap project, engine has all new top end gaskets, put together by a dealer tech. He says the inside of the engine looks great, so it should work well for this application. Plugs were originals (ordered a new set), van didn't have any check engine light on at all, GM ignition systems are amazing.
Learned a couple new tricks for stuck/broken exhaust stud removal. Double nut works really well for a stuck one and drilling out the broken one with a 1/8th bit then pound in a T20 torx bit, came out with ease.

engine is on the way out, labeling everything don't want to get screwed up during the install!

I can't remember the last time that I ever labeled wires when removing or working on an engine. The only thing I've been doing lately for organizational purposes and speed, is to bag and tag bolts that I remove so I don't have to go searching for them when I need them.

All my bolts are in zip locks labeled and organized, the extra few minutes definitely will save a lot of time later

Yeah but stupid me I didn't even do it the first time I removed a motor... Granted I didn't have issues going back in but you'd think first time around I would mark something but I just didn't.

its always good practice to label stuff.
Just to keep people from walking off with hardware or small harnesses, I put them in a clear tote to stow it away until its ready for use again.
don't need someone messing with a rebuild on me again!

We were told in college during engines class to bag 'em and tag 'em, never though about putting everything in a tote though... smart idea!
