iirc the hole was larger towards the front and he covered most of it w/ a piece of sheetmetal

Looks better than the others. Still sticking with the plan on the springs?

yes, just need to get those measurements first- I'm pretty sure the rear springs from a mid '70's GM rwd will work, they use a 5.5 i.d. spring w/ a small pigtail end. I've seen some pics of a front Beretta spring, its uses a larger pigtail. Looking around I've found that a front spring from a 2005-up Ford Mustang looks to have almost the same type of spring, have to get some measurements on that one to see if they would work.
another question- are there any better struts available then the KYB GR-2 ?

95 j-body Koni inserts can be modified to fit our strut housings.

Ok..... if you can do all this, can you put shock and strut tower bars on?

3X00, I remember seeing something on that somewhere, I think they had posted pics too
MpB, I can use a stock front strut brace, supposedly a local yard has 2 '92 Sunbird converts so I'll check them out after the snow melts.
and yet another question here- the plastic angle spacer that sits on top of the front spring, is it grooved to hold the spring? Could it work with a smaller i.d. spring? Sorry for the blind questions- the car is stored away for the winter so I'm just going by what pics I can find online

Cool, if they are cheap and the JY is going to junk them someday get both. I find it strange that they will let you use aftermarket struts and not let you use a aftermarket shock tower brace(from MRZ). Those things do help in the rear.

we are limited to only using stock or stock replacement parts, so a factory strut brace would be legal, an aftermarket would not.

So in other words you could use the sub frame brace too. From a 90's Cavalier/Sunfire convertible. Or a GTZ (GM PN 22555480).

This is Barry, my computer is at school so i'm posting on my brothers name.
Heres some info on springs off my 94 beretta
REAR
Upper side
8 3/4 inch O.D and 7 1/2 inch I.D of last coil.
Lower side
2 inch Id on last coil, but it rests partially on the second which has a o.d of 4 inches. So its safe to have a 4 inch coil on the bottom.
It is 10.5 inches long unloaded, if that matters.
FRONT
Bottom
3 1/2 inch ID 4 1/4 inch OD
Top 5.5 inch ID 6.5 inch OD
Forgot to take the length...
Hopefully this helps you out

Barry, thats exactly the measurements I needed, thank you very much!
MpB, I thought I read that the subframe brace didnt work on automatics? If it does, what does it look like and where does it bolt to?

Keep us posted if you find any springs from other cars that will work.
My back springs are wayy to soft and the fronts are not low enough for me.

It won't fit on a car with a 4T60. Ha,ha I've seen one, almost took it off the Sunfire that it was on and now can't remember what it looks like. When you crawl under a convertible you will see it under there. It just a bar that goes from one side to the other.

just a little update- I wasnt able to do anything with the fronts, the strut has a weird design where the bottom pigtail is offset. I was going to use a 3.5 id spring but then the strut would be off center and wouldnt line up on top. I just found a company that makes custom coil springs so I'll see what they can do.
I finally got to look at the car yesterday, its just a base Beretta, not a GT- it has a 30mm front sway bar, an internal rear bar but no external bar. Is this normal? I would have thought that with that big of a front bar it would have a rear bar too.

My base has no rear sway bar. No internal or external.
