No, you can weld to stainless with mild or stainless. You get the same penetration with either. I use stargold or stargon usually for gas available through praxair.

Hrmm.. that's odd... everyone of the "experts" online swear that you need 309L wire to penetrate and bond well, and you should use a gas will less CO2, or the 3 blend used for stainless.

woody90gtz posted on v6 about the 3400 v6 down pipe that some one was making and well i was wondering if this would fit a 3400 swapped cavalier.

I am also curious if this would fit a Cavalier... If it does I have money ready!

I know that area of the exhaust is different stock, so it would be questionable.

I really have no idea on a cavalier and I don't know of anyone that would let me try it out on theirs. Isn't the rack in a dif spot?

ok how much would it cost to get a down pipe and a cat back for a 3.1 also would like to know if u could make the cat back part start at 2 in n go to a 2 and a half right after the cat? i also do not have the flange.

berettaoutoftown, you can buy a reducer at nearly any auto parts store though that would somewhat reduce the benefits of the exhaust. I would suggest swapping to 3100/3400 exhaust manifolds for a bit of a increase in power and then you could buy one of those DP's which I make. I could do a 3.1 DP but it would be costly since your the only one thats asked for one.

The cat back will likely be $150+shipping. I have to wait for the invoice to come in for the material. I have the material, they just haven't sent a final invoice yet. If the quoted price comes through it will be $150.
