I have a tranny from a 94 quad, not a 93, although i know they are the same.

John, i am looking for the clutch kit for the 94GAGT cause thats what the tranny came from. Im looking for a new flywheel cause i messed mine up.

All the Quads have the same clutch disc and pressure plate, but again, there is the internal slave and external slave. If you look at all parts houses and look up the numbers, the disc has the same number for all quads as does the pressure plate. Only difference in the kits is one has the integrated slave/tob, and the other come with the tob only.

Im still unsure why the V6 clutches were even brought in to this discussion. I just wanted an opinion on which clutch company to go with, but for some reason we got into tech specs on the quad clutch vs the V6. Keep it on track here people stop cluttering up my threads with crap i already know.

I have the same exact transmission as you with 2,400 miles currently on my new Exedy clutch, the clutch pedal pressure is nice and light and the clutch itself grabs hard when you want it too for high rpm/fast/aggressive driving and is very smooth an gentle for daily driver usage. In 1st gear on flat ground I can actually ease my clutch pedal out from a dead stop and the clutch will completely engage and start moving the car forward just off the the idle speed alone without clunking out, lol

There is actually some good info in this thread regarding OEM type clutches regardless of the application. V6 got brought into the discussion because Rodney noted that the OEM V6 clutches had more clamping force, if that is true for Aftermarket OEM we do not know,(No one will know unless they have access to GM used original clutches and can verify info in the OEM spec sheets, and then personally test the clamping force of all offered versions of OEM replacement clutches, I see this never happening) but the two brands that GM used were stated as different, so he was simply stating if that follows into the aftermarket world then it may be a good idea to go with the stronger clutch.

So in the end my statement of Exedy was actually correct. Thanks SCD for dragging this out to simply reinforce what I said about Exedy being a good brand.

I cleaned out the BS because I'm sick of it and won't deal with it anymore. Any replies like the ones before that obviously couldn't get sorted out nicely in the topic will just get edited out and deleted from now on. I'm tired of trying to talk it over.

One more bit of info to add, is Exedy was "formerly" known as Daikin...

Also component wise, a 93-94 V6 clutch kit is not the same as the Quad 93-94 one.

The Quad has a pressure plate part number GMC502, where the V6 is CA1963.

And the older external slave clutch kits for the V6 have the GMC502 plate as well.

So Barry to answer your question, if they did infact change V6 clamping force it was in 93 when they went to the internal slave, so Barry you are technically using the Quad clutch for the 93+ application and not the 93+ V6 clutch, But that may be null and void if your using an aftermarket "Stronger" staged clutch.

The Grand Am 93-94 shares the same Exedy Kit as the 93-94 Quad Beretta as well, #04136

It looks like Exedy (unlike every other aftermarket brand) used the pressure plate from the 93/94 Cavalier Z24 for the 93/94 V6 Beretta kits. I have been told that the kit still holds the same amount of power (275hp) as all the other Getrag 282 kits, but I am skeptical on that rating because AFAIK Exedy rates clutch holding power in Torque not HP. I have contacted Exedy about this and will post what they tell me once they reply.

Most clutch companies spec holding power in torque. I'm curious to see what they say.

Cool beans. Well i ordered an AC Delco clutch cause everyone around here, that could get Exedy directly, wanted almost $300 for it. And only O'Riellys could get it. I got a Delco from Rock auto for $228. I love that site!

You can contact Exedy's tech dept directly by just calling them. I talked with them before I made the decision to go wtih them for my replacement clutch. Their corp headquarters is about 10miles from my house. Here's their corp contact web site:

I know when i ordered my new flywheel.It came in a ACDelco box but the flywheel was stamped perfection

Well the clutch kit and flywheel came today. The clutch kit, although in a Delco box, is made by Valeo which, as you guessed it, is made in china! Nothing is made in the states anymore. The slave is also made in china. I hope they both hold up.

However, Rock Auto does have a return policy. I may just send the clutch back, keep the Rhino Pac flywheel, and order the Exedy clutch kit from amazon and save myself $100 i could use for other parts. You guys rock! Thanks for pointing me in the right direction

Nothing like a burnt out parts manufacturer that is now simply a parts repackager. Screw you AC Delco. Screw you.
