I don't see why you didn't just replace it rather than wasting the time cleaning it.
Because i dont know how much it is and just spent all my money on axles

Understandable with the money issue... but a 2 min search on-line would have informed you that you really can't "clean" an o2 sensor and when they show up as a "short" for a code then you have wiring issues or the sensor is dead.

shouldnt be a wire issue as it worked fine before and for the past 20,000 KM havent had a problem. its probably the original one so time to replace it.

recomended life for a non heated o2 is 50k miles too just for reference. And wires can short out over time so I wouldn't eliminate that as a possible cause quite yet.

new one was $30.00 so i grabbed it, just put it in and drove 3 blocks around town before i come home and seems to be running better, let it idle for a while and was running fine. hopefully that fixes the problem

Lets not forget here that your wiring harness is either a transplant and/or a splice job since you've swapped from a L4 to a V6 in that car. In other words, I'd put money on the fact that you've got a short somewhere. A short in the actual sensor is quite rare, usually only happens from mechanical damage. Just you being in there moving the wires around could have temporarily fixed the short, if it was a bare wire touching something, I.E. hot exhaust parts.

I have a 3.1 L v6 5 speed manual engine wire harness and ecm. so the wiring is not a problem. car has run great for the past 20,000 KM i have put on it in the last 7 months and not until the other day it started acting up like this.

Since i put the new o2 sensor in this afternoon and gone for a couple drives it seems to have fixed the rough idle and chugging on the road hasnt done either since i changed it.

Yes but that harness is NOT the factory harness that came in the car, so therefore it would classify as a transplant and/or splice job since you installed it. I'll admit 100% that my harness on my red car is a splice job, it was modified to work with a 95 OBDI.5 interior harness. Same deal for you.

He's just pointing out that if the issue does come back then you need to test and trace your O2 wiring to ensure its not frayed somewhere or shorting out on some exhaust parts.

I don't know why but you always seem to correct/negate any advice given to you.

im just saying the harness is a factory beretta 3.1 5 speed harness, the wiring looks fine.

And the scanner said short or a fault of some sort with o2 sensor not sure what all it said i wasnt running it but he said something about the o2 having a short or something else.

It's a factory harness yes, but the fact of the matter is you had it installed or installed it, so the point was there could still be something up since its not factory to your car, its been pulled and moved from another car to yours which can disturb things. But so far its appearing that the O2 was faulty. At least luck was on your side this time and its not a harness issue because they can be a pain to trace.
