Likewise =).

Awesome work guys! You just pushed that car over the top once again =).

Dustin, are those center caps still working out for you? Finish still holding up?

And Kurt. . . pumped about swaps. . eh? lol..

Hell yeah I'm pumped about swaps. The work has been turning out great lately, so that really helps the ego. I'll be traveling to help another friend do a 3x00 swap in a month or so, and otherwise I'm going to make myself available to start doing this type of work for other people.

:D

Cool. Well I've got the 3400 part down, but the 5 speed part is another thing. However, I think the swap is going to end up being different than my original plans, mostly because of RUST.

Wow, I'm impressed with the feedback - thanks for the comments everyone! :D

Mark, the centercaps are holding up great - I actually just put the GTZ wheels back on the 94 from the winter steelies. (I hate driving such a low-mileage car in the snow/salt though :( )

Engine alignment is a little bit of question mark - the engine mounts on the passenger side of the engine are pretty shot and in need of poly-filled replacements. When I get ready to replace those, I'll probably have to start looking at a true 4cylinder 5-speed front bracket. (I'm sure it will be evident with non-saggy mounts what needs to be done/corrected/adjusted.) Right now the engine sits pretty square in the bay and is mounted up pretty snug with the billet upper trans mount and lower dogbone.

I also need to take the time to get poly bushings for the control arms and swap over my Moog ball joints from the GTU control arms. (Have some evil drilling to do in order to get the OEM ones out though.) Trying to decide if I want to put the FE7 bar on the '91...that's definitely going to have to wait though. It needs new endlinks before I can decide anything, but it might have to wait until I get a different downpipe built. The FE7 bar and 2.2L downpipes don't get along. Maybe then I can install a subframe brace too. (It also rubs on the downpipe - my saggy exhaust probably doesn't help matters either)

Beyond that, the car also needs a brake job (going to 92+ rotors/calipers/knuckles) and a alternator rebuild before it's ready for more than weekend driving (and Bfest!) (Quarterly bonus check is coming soon so that's going to help!) :D

So what happened to the GTU?

Swap looks good.

After putting a decent chunk of cash into it recently to take care of a few issues, the engine developed an external coolant leak somewhere close to one of the heads/block on the serpentine belt side of things. While I was tempted at that point to consider a 3400 swap, I didn't have the time/money to go through with it - plus the 300k+ mile chassis with a few cancer issues was going to be reason to pull the car off the road in a few years anyway. (One reason I never did much about the paint job on the car - it was decent enough for being the original 22 year old paint) It had a good run...and I milked another 50k miles out of it while turning it into a pretty reliable daily driver. Sad to see it go, but now it's becoming a nice donor car for getting the 1991 caught up performance-wise. (And even donating a few things to the newly acquired 1994 DGGM base) I really want to clean up the ground effects and convert another base. ;)

How much for the 1994 DGGM?

Maybe if the car was on crosslaces and without 200lbs of audio equipment in the trunk. ;)

Bump for an update of the interior...sorry for the camera picture

Swapped in the black 90 GTZ/INDY leather wheel I had in my GTU and finished up with the shift knob and boot situation with more recycled parts. Also installed a factory black center console.

Been getting antsy for Bfest!
