Wow, you got BONED on that CKPS. They absolutely STUCK you for it. $38??!?!!? Really!? I paid around $20 for mine BRAND NEW 3 months ago and it appears the prices are the same. See link for my local NAPA's pricing on CKPS sensors.

I actually think I paid something like $14 with my commercial account master installer discount but still..... LIST is $19 and change, NOT $38.

Jeez.
I started to read that, was thinking he paid like a 100 or something with your reaction. Way to make someone feel better.
38 vs 20 isn't being boned, but it sure was a bit higher yes. Either way, as long as it fixes it and its all it costs, that isn't that bad!

Well, it's not bad I guess if you don't mind paying 100% more for a part than you should have. His NAPA stuck it to him. Wasn't calling HIM a dumbass or anything, just letting him know he got ripped off.
So, Ace, what you're saying is if you come to my shop, I mark ALL the parts up 100% and you later find out I did, you'd be cool with it as long as your car was fixed? I think not.....

Well i am in Canada... and the list price for it was 58.00 and i got it for 38 on a discount through an account there.
I would have gone to Car Quest as i like their parts better and get better deals but there isnt one where i work and i had to get it today during the day. I needed it. the price isnt too bad. and it works the car is running great again.
I tryed to price one at 2 other parts stores.. Canadian tire and Parts Source, neither one had a listing for a crank sensor. ..
The part might be 20 bucks there.. but its probably made there too, maybe they sell more of them in the US the more of a part sold the cheaper normally they are. and by the time it was shipped here and duty and what not paid on it. 38 prob isnt bad..
If i could have sent you 20 bucks to get me one. would have cost 10-15 to ship it to me and then wait 2 weeks... i needed it yesterday so i paid 40 bucks for one today so i have it.

Oh,crap. I forgot your Canadian,aye.
I wasn't trying to make you feel bad, just keep you from getting ripped off in the future. But I forgot, as stated, your Canadian. I know you guys get jacked BIGTIME on US car parts prices. Sorry bud.

Re: Need help ASAP No spark wont start.
i could probably drive there for 500 in gas to save 18 bucks LOL.
I was actually thinking it was going to be about 100 bucks.. so when my bill was 38 bucks and i looked the list price was 58.. i still dont like buying parts from there, but its right handy and i stopped in while i was working so it was convenient more then anything.
Id still like to know where the chunks of metal in my oil pan was coming from.. doesnt make any noises at all runs great. so maybe its from the first time it was ever started LOL from break in hahaha ya right..

Re: Need help ASAP No spark wont start.
If you found metallic chunks in your pan, it's very likely from the rod bearings.
Re: Need help ASAP No spark wont start.
very small pieces of something, ill check with a magnet tomorrow and see if its metal or aluminum. and its probably not all from just one single time, prob build up over years. i had a fit one day like 2 yrs ago and i held that thing to the floor for about 15 minutes out in the yard. and i have pounded on it pretty good. i have been taking it easy the last couple months at least dont have my foot into it all the time anymore. those chunks of stuff could have been in there for years who knows. if it were from the rod bearings i would think it would have spun one by now and be knocking like crazy i was thinking maybe something from the top end like off a rocker arm or something from reving it high and have the valves floating maybe took a chunk out of a rocker arm. i dunno, it runs fine and smooth.
Going to baby it anyways for a while, hoping to have the 3.1 turbo and built and in the car by mid summer.

Re: Need help ASAP No spark wont start.
I was thinking over the last couple days what those pieces of metal could have been i found in my oil pan.... if in fact its from this engine... maybe the pan was changed.. the engine had been changed in the donor car so very possibly the old engine was blown and maybe had swapped the pan and never cleaned it out... i dunno... possibility..
Or..... the only other thing i have had apart on it and noticed something not right... my oil pressure had been odd lately,... i had the distributor gear out and changed the gasket on it... and when i put it back in it didnt want to just drop back into place, so had my dad bump the engine over for it to drop in, was thinking maybe it might have binded up and chewed a tooth on the gear on it or on the cam..is the oil pump drive gear aluminum or steel on these ??
I thought the oil pressure being weird could have been the filter, i have like maybe 1 month on this oil and filter but when i changed the cam sensor i changed my oil again and a different filter. oil pressure is still jumpy. i know my gauge doesnt read correct but its always been above the top. and now when it idles its at half and i know this is not normal for my engine.. its always run off the end above the numbers on the gauge, and it fluctuates up and down often while on the highway now...

Re: Need help ASAP No spark wont start.
Bad bearings will ALSO cause low oil pressure and metal shavings in the pan.
Re: Need help ASAP No spark wont start.
true. I got those symptoms when my old 2.8 was dying a horrible and slow death.SuzukiGhostRider wrote:Bad bearings will ALSO cause low oil pressure and metal shavings in the pan.
Re: Need help ASAP No spark wont start.
i cant see it being the bearings though.. the pieces were rather large like little nuggets.. the bearings are not that thick.. and it doesnt knock or tick or nothing.
Hopefully it doesnt die on me just yet. should have the turbo engine soon and get it in within the next 2 months tops.

Re: Need help ASAP No spark wont start.
I finally got around to checking the piece of stuff i found in my oil pan. ..... its not metal... possibly aluminum but even after i washed the little piece in the sink they were still pure black, felt like plastic.. not sure what it could be from but im not over worried now that i know its not metal.
Re: Need help ASAP No spark wont start.
You have chunks of a foreign material in your oil pan and you aren't worried? I don't care if its a chunk of HAIR, its usually not good.
Fastest way to burn up an oil pump is to have the screen get full of "chunks" of whatever.
