The cops probably see the car coming and hope it is a cute girl then get pissed off when they get close enough to read the plate "Mr Pink".
I am going with 50% all around and hoping for the best with the cops. I don't really get hassled at all anyway.

Its funny you say that because I talked to a few cops (6) and only 1 said that's why, the
other 5 said they did a study and that when a car's windows are tinted the drivers depth
perception is scued, i.e. you can't tell how fast the car is coming up on you, how close it
is, how far it is when backing up, etc. The way he explained it it made sense.
Rebuttal?

and the tint is still on.

It's called Reciprocity and it simply means that if a car is legal in the state it is legally licenced in the local authorities will respect that as you pass through.
Anything other than that is just BS and a cop being an a-hole!

I disagree with his opinion, the only thing that I see tint affecting is at night. but I have switched from 5% on my drivers windows to 18%, also the only time I've been pulled over for was my 12" strip of 5% on the windshield of the retta. I agree wit the OP, just passing through a state they shouldn't be able to mess with you.

Thank you! Thats what my problem with the whole thing is.
Granted yes the Pink car is far from legal so if he had wanted to say that it did not appear to be of the legal level of CT I would not have been able to say a word, but he said I had to be PA legal which is a crock of crap... probably hence the reason why he wasn't able to give me a ticket, Or "chose" not to since our licenses were clean.
And BTW Woody... 72% is an unobtainable level. All windows are 70% VLT from the factory or less for the rears if factory tinted. And your laws online are listed as 70% for front and rear windows and any% on the back glass, so who ever told you 72% doesn't know what they are talking about.
I found a police forum online and supposedly some states will just enforce the local law on visitors because they can aka not written that they can't... Pretty much a power trip deal. Others replied saying that's a complete dick thing to do.

haha
My State Trooper bro-in-law is the one who told me 72% (which is factory tint). He said the only time he writes someone though is if they are being an chump, or if he catches them doing 25mph over the speed limit and decides to give them a break.

If you were to get a ticket, I would have simply written or called the courts explaining that you are from our of state and were literally passing through. One would think that they would work with you.
As for a permanent solution, good luck.

Write the Mayor a letter complaining about his cops pulling me over and inconveniencing me on my vacation and I will now attempt to avoid that state when I do go vacationing, and possibly many others would as well if they were treated the same way. Not a good way to promote tourism if your bound to get a ticket with even a legal car. I would obvioulsy use my legacy as an example, but also use the officers words of you can't have ANY tint and I'll pull you over no matter where your from if your tinted.
Amy is very good at BSing stuff like that.
