The rack would not be leaking on the lower radiator core support.

good news..........cooler line just pulled loose. didnt charge me anything to fix it.

BUT
he did say he found a small oil leak on the "front engine seal". i'm not even sure he knows what it is actually called and therefore he couldnt tell me. i'm going to talk to the actual guy that worked on it to get details. the dude on the phone said they dont even do those repairs and its a high cost job. he suggested another local guy that does great work. i called him and he quoted around 100 dollars to fix it.......................

Doubt you need to worry about it for now. If its a small leak, then it should be fine for the time being. Of course that would depend on their definition of small leak. I conclude a leak to be one that leaves a drip everywhere I go. Slight seeps though can be normal as a car ages. Hell mine has a leak in the oil pan now. But the only way to fix it, is to replace the entire pan. And not going to be doing that anytime soon.

Glad to hear it was just loose, what I kinda figured.

i drove around the other day and a few hours later the leak from the line was back. so i take it back over to the shop and they told me the line came off b/c of their mistake. so they "fixed" it again by wrapping the connection with teflon tape and reconnected the line. which doesnt sound like a proper fix to me but i'm not a mechanic. i get a phone call about an hour later telling me it was ready. it was almost closing time so i decided to pick it up this morning.

low and behold it now has two larger puddles after sitting overnight. i jump back to the counter and get......"i'm not sure, we'll have to try again." and "do you think it might be running along the frame somewhere?" wtf! you're the damn mechanic!

this is their last "try" and will be finding another mechanic. this is frustrating since i dont have a car and they are becoming useless where as they used to good work.

i'm confused at this point as to what the problem is. they said they power steering lines were good but who knows........... :x

Sounds like the lines may simply have a bad fitting. As I said, they are pressure fittings, so they have to get tight enough to seal. Teflon tape won't hurt anything really, but it may not solve the problem either.

My advice? Order you a replacement set of transmission lines.

RockAuto has lines for both the 3 speed and 4 speed automatic transmissions. Get the AC Delco part ones. About 17-19 bucks each. Once you have those, have them (or another place) install them. That should fix the problem. The only other culprit would be the fittings on the radiator being damaged or bad, same would go for the tranny side.. Someone with some brains should be able to figure this out. I mean it isn't rocket science.

Good luck!
