You had the old school defroster roll then huh? Instead of just the bubble in the crotch where the flat part meets the instrument cluster?
Difficult fix, to say the least. If you come to bfest this year I could bring you a whole new dash.

yep,
all the way across the windshield, down the slope and under the pocket on the passengers side. it was so brittle that before i cut it out i pushed down on it to see if it would even go back into place. it split from the from the slope all the way down to the far right side of the pocket on the passenger side. the foam was crumbly to say the least and the vinyl was so hard it would snap if it was folded.
where is the fest this year?

Kinda. Not cracked like I've seen. Just looks like loose clothing kinda. I'm really curious what it looks like under the foam...
Would it look totally retarded without the cover and foam?

The vents won't attach.

Because of the spacing? My defrost vents are beyond gone... Shoved up into the windshield and sideways... And I could probably figure out a way to put the vents back in. My biggest deal and favorite thing about the car is the cup holder... It would have to remain flawless.

The cup holder is attached with screws. The rest of the vents on the front of the dash just press in. The defroster screen covers a hole, and without the cover, an even bigger hole. Under that foam and stuff is just a basic frame, it will look horrible not covered.

Thanks. I was hoping it was a black plastic covering in the same basic shape as the dash.

There is!! I'm going to run with this... Don't like the cut off area's... I'm going to remove the rest and try to fix what I can into looking presentable, then maybe paint it with some bed liner or something...

The surface is textured just like any other plastic dash. I'll get close ups. Might fill the holes with silicone. I would use epoxy or something similar, but I want it to be kind of soft in case the dash swells.

That's where I stopped. Right at the vents and around the cupholders. I'll probably pull the rest when I have time to deal with whatever may need to be modified...

Here's a shot of the texture.
That's as far as I went down. I don't think reattaching everything is going to be bad. Just maybe removing it again.
