I wouldn't put those in unless you are upgrading the wiring gauge and putting a secondary relay in place... others have just put 100W H3's in and have melted the factory wiring harness.beretta wrote:Just ordered 100 watt H3 bulbs for the fogs can wait to see how bright those are.
You can take the blinders out of the foglights (if you have factory lenses) and use 55W bulbs. It's just as good as using 100W bulbs and puts no strain on the wiring.

i was gonna say! the stocks are 35 or 55 watts i think. sylvania silverstars have been know to be good stock replacement 'brighter' bulbs... but they even get mixed reviews from owner to owner and car to car.
4th one's a charm, 5th one is, beginnning to sound like this is an addiction...

I've had them in two different cars; the 06 Scion tC I had and my 05 Legacy GT.
In the Scion, I think they lasted from the time I installed them thru the time I traded them in, probably around 1 year or so. At least I think so, I can't remember replacing them.
In the Legacy, they seemed to last about 6 months each. Which is pretty expensive for what they are. The bulbs were H7's, which aren't that great a bulb to begin with in my experience, and the first set still had DRL's working. I disabled the DRL's on the second set and that didn't help bulb life; I said screw it and did a full HID retro and have been happy since.

If you have the Z fogs and your intent in the light mod you speak of is to keep light in front of you when the high beams are on, all you gotta do is cut the green wire from the fog relay and ground it...this will keep the fogs on when you switch to high beams. Make sure you do something with the other end of the green wire as it will become energized when the high beams are on.

between the bumper lights and the regular headlights on my Z26 there wasn't a need for high beams.

^^^ This ^^^. Between my fogs and low beams (both stock) when PROPERLY aimed as mine are, I rarely even feel the urge to use brights. I get a nice even spread and bright light on the road for a good distance. Clean and clear lenses help too.99GaGT3X00 wrote:between the bumper lights and the regular headlights on my Z26 there wasn't a need for high beams.
If I put HID's in , it would be like practically running the brights all the time.
I gotta say I hate the people running around the damn road at night anymore with 6 fucking lights on (brights, lows, and fogs) , and most of them running HID's to boot, blinding the crap out of you and STILL bitching they can't see. GET SOME GLASSES!!
