if the rockers are that bad I can only imagine what condition the rear spring perches and cross member are in. You have a lot of work ahead of you and unfortunately with seeing a g/f or wife in the background with a child I can almost bet this wont take off as quick as you want it to, OR it will get dropped. Yeah I know I'm stereotyping but that's how it goes on this board for most.

my spring perches are in decent shape with surface rust now on the other hand my crossmember berween them is shot, I wish they wouldn't have scrapped the mint 95 base gunmetal gray car at the junkyard that I got the frame rail off of that car was mint and the rockers were perfect, but she got crushed this car was seriously a granny car that looked like it was driven on Sundays only, ya that's my g/f and almost 5 month old, I'm making good money and basically piecing my car together little at a time the biggest thing is getting the crate motor in Pittsburgh then I'll be set

That's typically not the issue... Hopefully the G/F is understanding with these cars... Many don't put up with it and its hard to find one that doesn't mind you spending your money and time working on one often or restoring one.

she understands she gets mad when I work on it during the week cause she said that's her time cause I help with my kid, and the weekends are all mine and she's knows that it's funny cause everytime I find a new beretta I want she says "you and your berettas" haha

Guys if he has got the skill to "SAVE" a GTZ then give him props. A fair warning is understandable but give him love for what he is doing. Saving a Beretta.
That interior is a great shape!
Im in the same boat. Just barely yesterday I just got my GTZ running.
I had to swap out an old alternator and remove those dam throttle body coolant lines. Once I was done my cousin hook up the positive on the battery and touched a metal piece on the engine....sparks flew...and it smoked/killed the alternator. So I had to do the dam job TWICE!
But yeah Im constantly working on my Beretta.....I have a feeling I might end up getting tired of it soon

Only thing now is to figure out the dam water leaking issue on the driver side.
Sorry to hijack your thread but DONT GIVE UP! LOL

Wow... that is quite a lot of rust. Good luck to you... In the event you do decide to find something else to restore, I want your door panels. Finding Manual old interior panels that still look decent is hard.

Can anyone tell me if this is a low output motor in my car by the intake it looks to be cause I compared to a high output pic of one I have and what years had the sensor in the oil pan cause this one has that please let me know thanks
1990BerettaGTZ2.3L wrote:Well since im on the big computer and not my Iphone figured id post these shes a work in progress im one step closer to getting it running with a new harness!!! Shes my 1990 Beretta GTZ Quad 4 5 Speed car, 174,000 miles, original color is WA8555 Black, shes been around previously in Georgia, Pa titled in 1992, was in Texas before because it has a Texas 2004 inspection sticker, I bought her off a guy that had it for sale on Craigslist, for $600 in Butler, Pa i paid him another $100 to trailer it to me in my hometown Meadville, Pa. Since i bought her i have bought a clear set of markers that i might go LED with not sure yet. Bought 2 GT spoilers, got one painted black and the other is my spare. Bought a close to mint Lumina Z34 Steering wheel on ebay for like $35 shipped, i still have my original leather wrapped wheel dont know if i will part with yet. Bought a NOS LH GM taillight in plastic wrap, not sure if i will use it yet, and i bought a NOS Gm LH headlight, since it had a different fluted lens pattern. Also bought a set of GTS styling headlight covers on ebay for i think $25.00. The last thing i bought was a 1991 Harness for a Quad 4 from Kris GTWhat? dunno if ill use it yet cause of my cruise control being different but Speedy is sending me a 1990 harness to piece mine together possibly. When i get a new motor for her then shes gonna get sandblasted underneath and painted original black on the exterior. I still need to locate a nice set of clear fillers, I have planned a W41 build or High Output with HG2 Cams, and 086 head ported and polished, Eagle Rods with ARP rod studs, gonna be fully balanced with maybe JE pistons still havent decided on that yet, and its gonna get a nice set of ARP Head Studs. But if i get the Crate motor ive been wanting its getting HG2 cams, Arp rod studs, and Head Studs and im running it. Ever since i bought the car its had the Zoom Racing Clutch box in the trunk that was apparently installed with the POS low output motor they put in there, and it has zero miles on it. All i want to do is get her fixed up and drive her because my 95 Z26 was alot of fun so this will take the cake ive always owned quad cars but not with the power that the high outputs have, so this is gonna be fun, ive always wanted a GTZ and i finally have one and still cant drive her yet

so ill post pics as she progresses over time enjoy fellers.

Your motor is a 95 Low output motor. you can tell by the timing cover and the oil dip stick on the back of the motor. 90 oil dip stick is part of the oil fill cap between the intake. That is a HO intake manifold, my guess is they took the 95 LO and put on the HO manifolds and cover, ect

Well the tubes I guess they are runners? on my intake look smaller than the HO intake I have a picture of from eBay I think I'm gonna pic it up just to have said he'd include the throttle body too which I need cause this one on the intake ain't working with my throttle cable stays half open hooked up and it goes closed when you unhook it

Head castings are printed on the "front" of the engine where the timing cover bolts on - Can be hard to see when the motor is assembled.

Not to mention the power steering pump directly attached to the cam tower like a 2.4

to find the head casting numbers its simple, remove the 4 bolts for the idi cover, pull that off, and look down between the cam towers along the timing cover, last 3 numbers will tell a story, i can bet they arent 086
