this is the response i sent to you Jon that i got back from the Alamomotorsports place. all they are willing to do is match Ben's shipped price. i dont know what form of shipping he used for the quote from WOT but if Ben used a flat-rate box from the post office and im gonna assume the total weight is way less than the 70lbs max they let you send in the flat-rate box then it would be $5 for the flat rate box of this size. 8-5/8" x 5-3/8" x 1-5/8"
Okay, I think I see how they're doing this. One form of shipping, $22.20.
We don't charge at all for shipping. $202.19 is their cost, I'll make it
$199.99 just to beat them a bit. Let me know if you prefer to order by credit card or paypal and I'll set everything up so that you can do it online.
Thank you!
Chris Myer

Are you going to CC the chambers now that you have all this down time?

Why? They are 32.4cc's I'm not going to be able to do anything to them as is anyways. When I get them back from the shop I'll be removing any sharp edges and polishing the bowls but that's about as much attention as that's gonna get, Its hard to improve these chambers.
Recent work I did today
Installed crank scraper,
Timing cover and oil pan, and then wrapped it up till I get my 8 short studs from Ben when they comes in. And I need to bring my heads to the shop to have them surfaced and a valve job cut.
Cut a new set of stock gaskets to fit the headers.
The Cometic gaskets
and I made it official and put the Charlotte sticker on the car.
Brendan, don't feel like dealing with Alamo again... I dropped $220 the first time I got these bolts and they still want the same. I'm just going to deal through Ben. I'm also still pushing ARP to see if I can get a set from them.
This current server is pissing me off too.

Looks good so far Jon.
i got some work done this weekend myself. swapped out the oil pressure gauge for a full sweep one and got the new muffler on. im still waiting on the serial port thing to show up so i can mod the plx box and maybe next weekend ill get the wideband installed in the car.
yeah the Alamo place is being pretty lame. the last response i sent you is all they could say when i pointed that out to them. So when i do buy the studs which wont happen till later this year ill buy through Ben.
When your ready to drop it in the car let me know.

Still gotta check the trans... That means i need to mod my second engine stand so I can put that on it...
I've been putting that off because it then means I need to also bring another motor to my house and store it till I tear it apart.
Am I the only one who's having issues posting with it timing out on me over and over again? I don't have any issues on Bstuff or 60* so that's why I think something is up on this site.

Yes, there are definitely server problems here.
Motor is looking good and I like the stock gaskets you modified. If/when I pull the headers on mine next I'll do the same.
I have a spare Barbie sticker I can send if you want it.

Well when you CC the chambers then they will all be the same size.
I'm not big on shrink wrap..... it could hold mosture in. It may be better to use a towel or two to keep crap out of the engine.

The whole motor is soaked with oil.. I'm not worried about moisture. Also my garage doesn't get damp.
Plus its open on each end so it's really just there to keep crap out of it.

If shrink wrap keeps hose clamps out of the motor its worth every penny.

Very true Barry!
I do still have thoughts that there may be some moisture building up in the holes for the head bolts. But if shrink wrap wasn't used before the ARP's started to rust then what I just said is useless. Well, I was just thinking that the garage is cold and then was heated to do work.

Dehumidifier and dry heat would solve that 99% .
I personally wouldn't sweat it.

The rust came from when the motor was in use... It was built in my basement of my parents house last time... Thats a sealed finished room.
The guy from ARP wants me to come up with better measurements since he does not like how much thread I have sticking up, and if he gets a better length set for my application he said he would help me out price wise on that. So things are looking up, but I'm definately still buying a set of shorts from Ben since I have no idea how long it will take to get this guy to fit me up a set.
It sounds like he wants me to put what I have in, measure the threads exposed and then give him a number to find a proper length stud.... But I think it's just going to be a pain in the ass since this is something Ben has already done in the past to get what we have now.

That sounds very strange. What does the lenght have to do with anything? Were the nuts almost bottomed out or something? They didn't look bad in the photo.
