Ok, and lastly the 086 is now fully assembled, heli-coil'd , cleaned and ready for installation. Valves were lapped in and took pretty nicely. I didn't get a "final" shot of the water outlet housing on, but the completed shot has everything else sans spark plugs and water outlet housing which are now on it.

Pics, enjoy.

1st pic is of all exhaust side valve seats after finishing lapping them in and 2nd is a close up of the exhaust valve seats after being lapped in.

3rd and 4th pics are assembled with springs, retainers, keepers and valves all installed.

Whew, well, another long day. Wind finally let up enough for me to get after it about 2pm and I took my time and finished around Midnight MST. It runs! :D Pretty damn well too , with the exception of ( I'm pretty sure) my own stupidity that will cost me one more day wrenching. Idle is about 1500 rpm and it "bounces" once you start moving (the idle, not the car). Throwing two codes. Map and IAC. So, I I swapped them with two spares I had and no dice. Still CEL and high idle. Then it hit me. I meant to go grab a new intake gasket today and apparently got the car all together without giving it a second thought when I put the intake on. I was SUPER concentrated on every aspect of my work and auto piloted through the intake install without remembering that was the OLD gasket. I looked at the 456 head an sure as crap, there's two "patches" of gasket still stuck to the intake side. I'm betting I'm "sucking air" through the intake gasket creating a funny reading and throwing both the IAC and MAP sensors for a loop.

Car runs GREAT though. Seems to have a lot more "easy on the pedal" power. Barely have to get on it to get moving pretty quick. I didn't go above 5k RPM. Wanna give everything a chance to "mesh" and break in.

So , tomorrow , intake gasket (NEW one this time). In the meantime..... does this look familiar? :P

So, final list of all new/updated parts:

1. 086 cylinder head and new headgasket and head bolts (Obviously, lol)

2. HO pulley (MUCH smaller, it fit INSIDE THE OLD pulley when comparing the two!)

3. New power steering belt (Just cause, I was there....)

4. New timing cover to PCV box hose (MUCH better, no stinky, stinky, leaky, leaky!)

5. New water pump

6. Some heli-coil work.

7. Painted inner timing cover and blower box cover (AND managed to scratch BOTH during reassembly which REALLY pissed me off....)

8. Assorted gaskets

9. Other crap I probably can't remember right now because I'm so damn tired.....

I wouldn't be running this 086 and would be stuck with my restrictive 456 until I could bring myself to drop $160 on just valves. :D Full credit goes to you bro for helping a brutha in need! :D Thanks again!

Now, just fix the idle, give it a few days (man that's gonna be hard!) and enjoy my power restoration! :D

New intake manifold gasket installed. I was correct. Didn't think my MAP and IAC would both crap the bed at the same time. Old gasket was useless, can't believe I over looked that. Car runs like a CHAMP now. :D I'm quite pleased. With the car and myself! :P

I know a few had expressed an interest in a video of the car running. I just shot one and am uploading to YouTube now. I did the best I could with the damn wind going, but it blows pretty much all summer long here. So ,anyhow I will post the link once it's done uploading.

Yeah, I plan to replace that muffler anyhow once I get the gas tank swap completed and redo my exhaust with Ron's Header anyhow. But yeah, I agree it looks like ass.

Why should I "really" go to Bfest?
