Started the rear disk swap. It is pretty much done, but I need to take my lines back and get a different end put on them. Sucks.

Damn that parking brake was a PITA to get on! Holy crap.

Now... what to do about my weak front brakes? Im considering stock rotor with a beefier caliper

but what setup did you go with when you did it

Be a man and go with the N-body brakes.

If you don't want to do that then there are no "beefier calipers" that would help since our limitation is the size of the rotor, it heats up too quick and fades quickly... the only other option is a very high dollar rotor, Powerslot comes to mind for reliability... And then Hawk brake pads that should help with performance.

I'm going with the N-body stuff this year, and that will leave me with the option of going to 12" if I ever need them for say a road course... But 11's should be fine for the street and strip for me.

Well I need to keep 5x100 and be able to run a 15 inch wheel.

Already using powerslots up front. I'm doing ss lines too, I'll look into the hawk pads.

neon rotors, neon brackets. Concord parking brake, stratus calipers.

Stock ebrake cables work perfect, I didn't even cut the end off like Jon did.

I did just for extra clearance, since I'm assuming my pads are worn some... but then again being e-brake ones, they may not be worn at all.

Why list as concord parking brake? Same part numbers for the kit for the 96 Neon sport as the Plymouth Concord.

And why note stratus calipers... its the same part number as a 96 neon sport, and the same type of caliper all the way up to 99 for a neon rear disc.

Your essentially using a full 1996 Neon setup in the end if you cross reference numbers.

if you use stock N-body calipers and rotors then you can still fit 15" wheels on there. just get some 15" wheels for the grand am since you would have the 5x115 now.
SE's come with 15" wheels and they all have the same brakes up front regardless of model difference from SE to GT.

I never did any number research. I bought just the brackets from a guy on a quad site. Then I had to piece the rest together from cars at the yard and there was only 1 neon that didn't have a complete rear disk setup.

So for anyone wanting to do this swap, all you need is neon rotors. Pretty much everything is the same and these parts are extremely plentiful

Swap is done. Forgot to plug in the abs sensor on the driver side when putting it all together. On a pre 95 axle, I need to remove the whole wheel bearing again. NICE.

I like how they look though. Ebrake works really well.

Kinda a pain in the ass swap if you run into issues, but its not bad over all.

I have 1 washer between the bearing and the bracket, and 1 washer between the rotor. Just 1 washer wouldn't clear my dust shields, idk why. Maybe its the replacement bearings I used?

Tires rubbed back fenders REALLY bad, so I started rolling them today. Its almost good now. A tiny bit of camber wouldn't hurt, but no chance of that now, there's enough washers going on.

You need a new camera, or one that will focus up close.

Looks good, but I'm sticking with stock in the rear painted black. You can't even see them behind the wheels that way. So far it has not struck me as "odd" not seeing anything behind the wheel. I may loose show points for having drums, but I'm not going to gain much if any stopping power with changing the rears...

That could be debated.

Jon, all pics are taken with a lg phone.

I hate drum brakes. Mostly for appearance reasons. I think GM failed really badly by not putting disks on the beretta and even the 3rd gen cavi. Every other auto maker did. It just looks plain stupid.

Hell, even 80's civics got them. Not a performance car by any means.
